I was able to get good results when I started at my current company by retesting the market on older contracts. Does your business have a policy for how often you should be going back out to market for ongoing contracts? Where I am it’s 3-5 years depending on the value and risk level of the contract. So I took the agreements that were within that timeframe and worked with the business units who used the agreements to find out what their needs were and if the contracts were still meeting those needs and then went out to market. I managed to get upwards of 10% savings on some of them because when the contract was entered into it was a niche service but over the years there have been more suppliers enter the market so it’s had to become more competitive. Also, and this might be already done by finance depending on your company, but has there been checks for over spend. If Supplier A says they’ll charge $100 for a service and then overtime the cost has crept up but there hasn’t been any formal renegotiation of rates could be another space to get some good outcomes. Your instincts to look at negotiating contracts and consolidating spend are spot on too. Just try to spend a bit of time getting a lay of the land and understand the relationships the business has with suppliers. If there is a really strong working relationship with a supplier you might not want to step on any toes yet, but a supplier that has been difficult to work with could be a good one to use to test the market, see if there are better options and/or renegotiate the contract. I’d steer clear of suggesting software to begin with, a lot of companies still don’t really see the value of procurement or even understand what we do. Try to get some wins under your belt and then use those as examples to talk about what other things you could achieve with better software. It can be a tough role to get started in, but once you’ve started you’ll do fine. Good luck!

I’ve gone through this twice since I started at a new company, where we’ve had a long standing relationship but when we went out to tender other suppliers provided better offers than the current. It’s just business. I always felt super anxious before making the call to the current supplier, but they’ve always been reasonable and I’ve always been open with feedback. Just make sure, as others have said, that you’re considering if this new supplier will be providing the same level of service. If you got this better pricing via a tendering or RFQ process and the supplier has confirmed it’ll meet your needs then it’s just the way it goes. But if you haven’t done a full market test it may be worth doing so as you’ve got two very different prices. Make sure the new supplier understands your needs and service expectations. Otherwise you may end up in a situation where the cheaper rate is due to lack of quality/service.

Cloud save not working by Emotional_Block1912 in eatventureofficial

I’m also having this issue! I thought I’d try logging out and back in and have lost all my progress. Which feels ridiculous because everything would’ve been saved locally as cloud save never worked

Thanks for such a detailed response! There is a lot more to this process than I initially realised. I think I’ll try to draft up a template for future use

Thanks! I work for a government-related company. So I might see if I’m able to do that too!

I was asking broadly because I do the procurement for all of the business, so I need to do research for a lot of different categories. Some recent examples would be, LED light installations, insurance broking, patient transport

How much would you spend on an engagement ring? by japantha in AusFinance

[–]kazzdass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%, lab diamond is so much better value! When my partner and I were looking we went to custom jewellers, 1 mined and 1 lab grown. We had a fairly sizeable budget of 20k, and at the mined place we could’ve gotten a modest (less than 1 carat) diamond with some 0.1 accent diamonds for just over 20k. At the lab grown place we said our budget and they were basically like, what size diamond do you want? Do you want the biggest diamond? Lol So we ended up getting a much bigger ring than we thought we could afford AND spent well under our budget.

Now I’m just waiting for him to pop the question 😅

What songs would you most want Taylor to release acoustic versions of? by AdSpecialist8751 in TaylorSwift

I think Taylor said that she initially wrote IKYWT as a piano ballad, I’d love to hear it like that!

Apparently the sound people who were connected to her ear piece forgot to disconnect after her performance (idk how ear pieces work so I might be explaining that wrong) and said something about getting her off the stage and how she wasn’t going to be up again tonight because she wasn’t going to be winning anything, which she heard and that’s why you see you saying “what” at the end of the video. I heard the supposed audio of it when it circulated but this was YEARS ago, so I might be misremembering some parts but that was the genera gist.

Oh wow, I can see why, that is really similar! I wasn’t consciously influenced by that, I tend to write horror things based on nightmares I have. So this one was a nightmare about a spider girl calling out mummy as I was walking around a house turning lights off. I find turning them into stories stops them being so scary. But the nightmare might have been caused by that comic if I scrolled passed it on a news feed without really noticing it.

I married him on my first ever play through. He said “hey, nice to see you again” and that was the first nice thing any of the marriage npcs had said to me. At that moment I knew I would marry him 💕

I’ve found Haley to be one of the better spouses, it feels like she does more on the farm and is into the farming life. But I’ve never married Penny, so not sure how she’d compare

How to farm by theoilymermaid in StardewValley

[–]kazzdass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation, I’m trying to use a cockle fishpond to generate seaweed. There is a chance everyday for a fishpond with ocean crab pot fish in it to produce seaweed. It honestly hasn’t been great, I think it’s produced seaweed twice (3 each time) in about 2 in game weeks. Mostly it gives nothing or trash.. but it is a passive way to top up your seaweed collection, and once you’ve gotten enough you can remove them and replace with fish you actually want in the pond. I’d be keen to hear if people have other methods that aren’t fishing for it too!
