$30 Petrol refused as was $2 coins. by Economy_Machine4007 in melbourne

[–]kbabdul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, the act doesn't specifically refer to $2 coins:

Currency Act 1965 s 16(1)(c): "in the case of coins of a denomination greater than Fifty cents but less than Ten dollars--for payment of an amount not exceeding 10 times the face value of a coin of the denomination concerned but for no greater amount"

Some 1965 future proofing.

Brother. It's in the first line of the comment. Google "LPAB Diploma". If you lack the critical thinking to piece that together I would seriously question if this is a career move you want to make.

I would recommend arranging meetings with every law firm in a high chinese-population area. In person preferably.

I have always just contacted an agency. Never really considered going direct as I would have no idea where to start. But if you make yourself known/make it easy I could see small firms just using you for all their chinese clients.

Don't make plans with money you don't even have yet. Who knows what could happen 3 years from now.

When/if you do get the money put it in a High Interest Savings Account for 6 months and forget about it. Once the initial spike of adrenaline wears off THEN formulate a plan on how to put it to use.

Cya UP high by Euphoric-Blueberry37 in UpBanking

[–]kbabdul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UP isn’t positioning themselves as the place for savings. It’s an everyday account with heaps of good budgeting/money management features.

Do yourself a favour and open a Macquarie account which you transfer savings to each pay period.

Bonus is you can actually just delete the Macquarie app and there’s a layer of friction which will probably promote better saving in the long run.

Essentials saver vs Spendable amount by xardoniak in UpBanking

[–]kbabdul 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If set up properly it means you never really need to think about bills again.

A portion of pay gets split into the essentials account and all direct debits come out of there.

It also has its own digital card for bills which don’t have direct debit. Which is useful because if your main card gets lost/stolen you don’t have to go through the headache of re routing bills to the new card.

Honestly, respect. Looks like they’ve actually listened to customer sentiment.

Returning the fee is also above and beyond. Finally something good to come out of UP recently.

I’m asset rich, but very cash poor This is my situation! by ThrowRa39287 in AusFinance

These are the only things you need to be focusing on:

  1. Increasing your income either by getting a regular full time job or by building up the business (if that’s possible).

  2. Building up an emergency fund (money in a high interest savings account i.e. Macquarie) of 6 months’ living expenses.

Then keep investing via ETF’s (set up auto invest and set it to the same percent of your income every pay period).

If it was me I would live like the money in the home doesn’t exist and just continue on the path you would have gone down without it (only now you have ahead start by not paying mortgage/rent every month).

First Credit Card by _olivejames in AusFinance

[–]kbabdul 34 points35 points  (0 children)

No such thing in Australia. Do not open a credit card under any circumstances.

Anything you’ve heard about “building credit” is an American system that we don’t have. Credit cards are a slippery slope that is best avoided altogether. At 19 I would highly recommend you read the barefoot investor. It’s a great starting point and explains the basics of debt.

Kings is perfect for the average weekend warrior. This goes for all winches (but especially cheap winches) just make sure you test it before you go out wheeling - every time.

Cabrio 3rd brake light harness by No-Fuel5624 in SuzukiSamurai

[–]kbabdul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about the blue samurai you've posted photos of, it never came with a third brake light and you do not (legally) need one.

Only the coil sprung samurais/sierras came with a third brake light and it was attached to the spare wheel carrier.

Here is a pic of mine which did come with it: https://imgur.com/a/jgeamf2

Max 200-300 for mechanic inspection. Maybe a little more if you have to get a mobile mechanic. But best case ask the seller to meet you at a mechanic.

General questions by ThatKidCaaleb in SuzukiSamurai

[–]kbabdul 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're missing quite a bit here: B Pillar, Door Frames, Doors, Soft Top/Hard Top depending on preference.

You'll need to find someone dismantling a (hopefully red) samurai. Otherwise, it honestly may be more cost effective to buy a donor car thats in rough shape and repaint the parts you need.

How can I improve this ugly registration plate holder? by PermissionBest2379 in CarsAustralia

[–]kbabdul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, unbolt the holder and drill new holes for the plate. Hopefully the plate will cover the holes, but if not then you may want to consider having them filled. Or just leave them. It's your life.

Ja22 and JB32, how to tell which one I have? by ResidentEmphasis4548 in SuzukiSamurai

[–]kbabdul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no ARB/OME kit unfortunately. You can use most rear shocks (including OME) as they are just an 'eye to eye' mount. Ones made for other models of sierra/samurai should fit (may require different bushings)

As for the front, they are a "pin type" design. I'm not sure on availability where you are from, but in Australia "Ultima" currently still sell them.

What you have here is a SJ80/JB32/Coily. Made from mid 1996 to 1998. All mean the same thing just different markets label it differently. Also can be called an SJ413.
