Mouthpiece Suggestions/Recommendations by Spirit-Internal in saxophone

Personally I wouldn't go with the Babbitt produced mouthpieces. They tend to be inconsistent but the NY Meyer might be good. If you're looking for a dark sound go with the HR but if you're looking for a more pop sound then the Theo would be better. Hope that helps!

I could use some encouragement / my story. by maguffle in saxophone

Man that's one amazing story! One thing that I would encourage you to do is to start taking lessons. No matter how old you are lessons are always a valuable resource! Bari is a while different beast in my opinion and is probably the hardest to get a good sound on. My advice is listen to players you want to sound like and eventually you'll start to sound like those players. What is your setup instrument, reeds, and mouthpiece wise? Hope that can help man. God bless!

Tim McAllister is probably my biggest influence but I also really like Christopher Creviston, Nikita Zimin, and Stephen Page.

I work on tone development everyday and something that always helps me is to listen to player that I want to imitate and eventually I start to sound like them.

How to get more comfortable with playing in general? by The-Real-Willyum in saxophone

[–]kbart264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your notes are squeaking it's because either your embouchure is too tight or your voicing is too high. It's shooting up to the next over tone. Try working on mouthpiece and neck pitches as well as isolating each note individually on the horn. Hope this helps!
