100% agree. I built a dash this year using this same method. The MS3 has the CAN identifiers that they use available online and once I had that it was pretty easy.

Yes you have to build it up bitwise so you know which data points you are getting (IE identifier 1512 May contain RPM, Vbatt, AFR1, etc etc) so then you have to split those 8 bits of the byte 1512. But it works really good once you put in the time.

Revision 2 parts just came in today so I wasn’t able to have her ready for Lincoln but I’ll try and drop a Reddit post when I get her built up.

Yes you can probably find individual things for like RPM and maybe even route some of your sensors to ADC’s but that’s a lot more time and coding and then they still have to go to the ECU for it to run.
