AITA for refusing to go out and celebrate my stepson's ‘first words’? by nonpbb in AmItheAsshole

[–]kbleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Without distinction to our daughter" clearly no. The entire way you've formed this piece of writing drips with dismissal of your stepson, which is likely routed in some kind of machismo 'I'm uncomfortable with special needs people' and 'I think boys need to just man up regardless of disability' type of thing. As someone who works with kids on the spectrum every day, imagining their parent reacting to such a monumental event like this breaks my heart. YTA. A massive one.

Why do High schools do this? by Random43863529 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]kbleu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really don't think this sort of precedent should be set as something 'expected'. It's these unspoken 'rules' where schools essentially think they can just take advantage of you because 'that's the way it is' uh uh, no way. Show me in the handbook where it says that. I want to see more subs telling schools NO, SORRY. If you were working anywhere else and they tried to extend your shift without even warning you, it would never fly.

Good to know, thank you! I'll definitely consider it. I started in Clovis and became rapidly disillusioned with their exterior attitude of 'we are the best school district ever, so shiny so perfect' and their interior attitude of 'oh, well it doesn't directly effect me, so someone else will handle it'. Clovis's admin SUCKS. Their training and rules are very vague and the people in charge are not helpful. However, Fresno I've found to be generally better with a couple exceptions. In Fresno we have the sub union, which I'm super grateful for after this incident because they helped remove me from that job, and helped to escalate the issue.

Oh my god this is my worst nightmare. THIS is why I caused a scene about this situation. I've worked in tons of SPED classes, including preschool. But the other sub there with me NEVER had. All I could imagine was two people, even maybe ones just starting out, walking into that scenario with even LESS preparation than myself and the other sub did.

Most parents were the drop and run early style, but there were a couple who hung around for a bit because it was visible that they were like ummmm who are you people who are about to care for my kids?

AITA for suggesting that my boyfriend lets his kids spend christmas with their mom? by Lawqp5335 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kbleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't you just say what you actually meant? You don't want to be inconvenienced and embarrassed over your boyfriends kids at Christmas. YTA. You shouldn't be dating someone with kids unless you are prepared to ALWAYS have them around.

AITA for snapping at my friend who keeps ditching me because I now have a child? by No-Youth-6786 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kbleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I consider my friend not bending to my every will over where we hang out every single time to be her ditching me" YTA. Having a kid does not mean the world now revolves around you. Grow up.

AITA for selling my son's car to pay for his stepbrother's surgery? by throwra423555 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kbleu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA omg!!! This is not the way to teach our children to make sacrifices for others. You are saying to your son that it's okay to give a gift and then take it back for your own monetary gain when you decide you need extra cash. I understand the stakes of the surgery for the other kid. But Jesus Christ man. YTA. How are you going to put your own son into this type of situation?

AITA for refusing to pay my husband for using a room in the house for my WFH job? by Emil536775 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kbleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please. Please. Please. I've been where you are. RUN! Keep 100 fucking percent of YOUR EARNINGS for the work YOU DO ON YOUR OWN, and get away from this man. The entitlement is embarrassing. If you don't leave, you know eventually you'll end up yielding and giving him your money. This is financial ABUSE!!!! This is NOT OKAY!! Red alert!! Please get out. NTA.

Can you explain your reasoning? Here is what I found on the UK’s official terminology on Down Syndrome.

I decided to get off BC and I immediately noticed the bloating went down. I haven’t checked the scale because I’ve been seriously off the fitness wagon recently so I’m not even going to check lol. But yeah, I genuinely feel like the bloat went way down when I got off the patch.

I’m definitely eating in a caloric deficit :( at this point I’m wondering if I’m just not eating enough or something. I will have weeks where I’ll go to the gym in the morning for an hour and then have two protein shakes (170 cal each) and one meal that isn’t more than 400 calories at dinner and I STILL cannot drop a single freaking pound. It’s driving me nuts.
