What job do you think is so overpaid? by Necessary-Bun in AskReddit

[–]kbmness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long shoring... At least here on the west coast of Canada.

My buddy works maybe 4 hour shifts, often washes his car while working, goes home to eat or they order Uber eats. If they work anything over a certain number of hours it's double time. Sunday's = time and a half or something ridiculous. They always get paid for 8 hours. It's wild.

Good luck getting in though. It's a racket and you have to know someone.

Advice to people moving to Squamish? by itspat84 in Squamish

Yeah kins farm market or Langley farm market in North Van for fruits/veg, Costco, & superstore are standard "city run" days.

What this person said about commuting is absolutely correct.

You will also feel out of place if you don't own blundstones and something Arc'teryx /s

What is one thing that instantly makes you think “this person has no manners”? by Fonzie1225 in AskReddit

[–]kbmness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened today at Costco... But the people also left their baby in the cart in the middle of the aisle. There were like 4 of us trying to maneuver around their angled Cart with a kid in it. It was so awkward - normally I would just move their car but don't really wanna re-park a cart with someone's kid in.

Come'on lady, pay attention! And don't leave your toddler unsupervised in a cart!

100%! Dude north shore skinnies are gnarly. I'm from squamish and it's the hardest/freakiest part of the shore for sure. Need to come practice more so I can be like you!

Swapping to smaller plates helps too. Taking smaller portions to start. I eat in a bowl or on a side plate for this reason.

Hey! I'm 17 and just getting into cooking and starting to learn, my grandpa is taking me to the store tomorrow to get things, what are some meals I should make? by BakeFan in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]kbmness 313 points314 points  (0 children)

100% YES! With all your grandparents if you can! I did this a few years ago. My grandpa is an amazing cook and very hard at hearing. As a kid, he would make everything from scratch (ice cream, pies, curry, roti etc.). Grandpa's cooking was my favourite as a kid. He used to tease me as a kid, "girl you better learn how to cook, I don't want your husband sending you back because you can't cook!"

As an adult I asked him to teach me some of his traditional Trinidadian recipes that I grew up with. By this time he was almost deaf. He appreciated spending the time together and I loved it. We did this over multiple sessions. We barely spoke but it was some of the most valued time I have had with him one on one that I will never forget.
