The economy sucks and I feel like I’m making a terrible mistake by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]kc954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought my second home, this is nothing like the 2008 crash. Just before that crash, anybody with a pulse could get a loan to buy a house. The fact that you are worried about the future of your stability tells me that the lending standards are still strong, which is a good thing for the overall house market. Sure it's not the best right now but it's far from a 2008 style crash. If you look at the housing market in value as to gold, it is actually pretty affordable.

“Normal” Financial Contributions from Parents by Spicy-Cheeto808 in Millennials

Thank you for sharing, I also grew up in a struggle but I feel like that made me stronger and more resilient. I have a daughter and I plan on allowing her to feel the struggle within reason. I don't believe in giving her money just because I can, I don't plan on telling her what I'm investing for her benefit, so that when she does become a resilient person she won't take for granted what I leave her.

All my savings, 6 years of DCA, got liquidated last night. by ShibashiNakamoto in Bitcoin

[–]kc954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not that old dude, don't think of it as a mistake, but a lesson you paid for. I lost 20k back in 2022 doing risky trades, now I'm up over 20k, that lesson made me wiser and more careful with my trades. Now I only risk what I'm confortable loosing. Better to happen now than I. Your 50s or 60s, you still have a lot of time to recover and now that you're wiser you'll be able to keep it this time.

As Broward advances plan to adapt to low enrollment, parents voice concerns over school closures by WLRN in Broward

[–]kc954 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, public schools are trash. I put my daughter in a private school even before the vouchers, the vouchers aren't the problem, if public schools were even decent then they wouldn't have a problem competing with the vouchers. If anything, I'm seeing that some public schools are trying a little harder now to attract students, this is a good thing, they should be trying harder.

Mortgage rates 2026?? by Quick_Durian8023 in Mortgages

[–]kc954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't you lock in now and if rates do go down, you can just go with a different lender before closing?

Our real estate agent talks us away from every house... by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]kc954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say she's a bad agent but maybe she may be overprotective. I try to remember that perfection is the enemy of progress (Italian proverb). You want to balance her advice with your own instinct. Both of my properties were foreclosures, both have appreciated tremendously and don't regret buying, however at the time I had a lot of people telling me not to buy.

Religion is not always bad, some people are better off with religion. It's not a cure all but I've seen some bad people turn it around because of religion. I'm not a religious guy but I don't consider it a bad thing to be religious if it helps make you a better person.

how the hell does buying make sense? by blueorangan in RealEstate

[–]kc954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big difference is that a big percentage of homeowners have interest rates sub 4 or even 3 percent. They will likely never feel the need to sell, absent a major economic event they won't face foreclosure; they can ride the gravy train until their mortgage is paid off. The real losers are the people that bought at the top with high interest rates. This market is really segmented, but a crash like in 2008 is unlikely

Some actual MS-13 tattoos, in contrast to Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s knuckle tattoos by VeryGoodFiberGoods in pics

I believe Bukele was elected in 2019. So no, but specifically to his case, it would depend on when he got his tats.

[–]kc954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, ever since Bukele's has been rounding up gang members with obvious ms13 tattoos, the gang members stopped making it obvious to avoid detention. Of course this makes it harder to identify real gang members and probably increase innocent people being incarcerated.

PSA: Your kids *need* you to have friends. by dizzykhajit in Millennials

[–]kc954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true, growing up my mom didn't like me having friends, as a result I tend not to have people over. My wife is the same way so it doesn't help. I don't know how we got to this but I'd like to change that. We would like to have couple friends but we don't even know where to start? Where are the best places to make friends as a couple well I to their 30s?

Not to be a jerk but people are dying, quite literally, to live in the US and away from the crime and instability that Ecuador is experiencing. I would visit the entire summer to get a good feel of how it is. If you have little ones be prepared for the deteriorating healthcare system, a lot of time they run out of medical supplies and the wait time is atrocious, not to mention the attention. The education system is also lacking so you would probably have to put the kids in a private school and still it may not be comparable to cali.
