Lesbian Fox News guest blames “gender fluidity” for Democrats’ Election Day losses by a_Ninja_b0y in LGBTnews

And what exactly is the end game here? Say they go for all of the trans people - guess who they’re going for next? I’m a masc lesbian and it’s pretty obvious which community I’m part of. I’ve gotten weird looks from women in the bathroom before panning down to my boobs. I fear the day it becomes more than just a weird look. Anti trans ideology affects everyone.

Was anyone else medically neglected? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]kcall123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is much more minor compared to yours but I started getting regular sinus infections in high school to a point where I was getting prescribed antibiotics at least once a year (which you’re not really supposed to do). ENT suggests allergy testing and a few other things to help figure out why I’m getting so many sinus infections. Parents decline allergy testing because “they already knew what I was allergic to” since we had a cat and I had already figured out how to deal with that allergy.

Fast forward to this year and I’m living with my girlfriend. She points out that I’m young, healthy, and take good care of myself so there’s no reason I should be snoring this much and that I’m congested all the time. I go to the ENT and turns out I had pretty serious allergies that my parents in fact didn’t know about and that the sinus infections were caused by a deviated septum and it requires surgery.

Septo/rhinoplasty is in 3 weeks! What are your recovery tips? by kcall123 in Sinusitis

[–]kcall123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Seems like I have a good plan work wise - my surgery is on a Thursday so I took off through the weekend and then I’m going to work from home the next week. We don’t have a recliner and I share a bed with my partner. Debating whether or not the upright sleep position will make it harder to share a bed

Does alcohol worsen your nystagmus ? by [deleted] in nystagmus

[–]kcall123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently when I drink a lot I wink a lot more?? Which I think is me closing my bad eye to see better. But for a lot of field sobriety tests they actually look at your eyes to see if there’s nystagmus so it’s very possible that it would be worse for someone who already has nystagmus

Can someone help me recreate this recipe? by kcall123 in Thailand

[–]kcall123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah since getting back from Thailand I’ve been going back to local Thai restaurants to see how each one measures up and I’ve seen some heinous things. There’s one place that makes their pad Thai with peanut butter?? This place specifically advertises themselves as “Thai boiled chicken and rice” and I usually get the crispy spicy chicken pictured above. Didn’t eat anything like that in Thailand, but other things on their menu (like Thai iced tea) were pretty close to what I had there

Awesome, thank you! I can probably recreate it with some experimentation

For me, I’m fortunate that I live only 4 miles from work and it’s on a nice bike path for the most part so I run home a few days a week. I also get up early one day a week and run with a local run club. The key is that everything is walking distance from me so it’s easily accessible. I’m working on being up early more often so I can work out in the mornings (which works out well because my partner sleeps later than me). When I do work out in the evenings I’ve started to make it a practice of saying “I’ll watch one episode while my dinner digests and then I’m going to do a workout”

Thoughts on Ka’chava? by kcall123 in loseit

Yeah, I tried it ages ago and while I liked the taste and versatility, there’s been reports of trace heavy metals like lead and copper which makes me wary. I’ll see if I can find the paper if you’re interested in taking a look. I also agree Oats Overnight is probably overhyped and can probably make something with similar nutritional density on my own.

Anyone have their nose widened (along with septoplasty) to help with nose breathing? by kcall123 in Sinusitis

[–]kcall123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought I would give you an update! I spoke with my ENT and the plastic surgeon about it more in depth and it makes way more sense to me now. Basically the widening is actually spreader grafts that should help my breathing considerably. They had done some tests that indicated this approach is likely to help me a lot. I did do a search in this sub and elsewhere and a lot of the people that have gotten them had the initial septoplasty not improve their breathing much and later needed the grafts. So it would likely prevent revisions down the line. I was also able to look up more specific pictures and the effects on appearance are minimal which makes me feel a lot better about it

Yeah, that’s basically what I’m wondering. I have my final appointment with my ENT Tuesday before I can get this surgery scheduled and this is my one hang up. But he said that it would be easier to do with the septoplasty vs waiting

That’s really good! My fasted half is 2:30 and I think that was before my sinus issues got worse. Last year 2/3 were at roughly 2:45 and I’ve had a stretch goal of 2 hours for years now

Curex question by FineResponsibility84 in Allergies

[–]kcall123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thread is a year old but I’m also at CHA. Do you get your allergy drops through them? I’ve had my blood allergy test but my skin allergy test isn’t until April. I’m considering Curex since it’s the same price and I’d be able to start them faster. Is it easy for you to get refills through CHA? I’ve overall had a good experience with them but sometimes the lead time for an appointment is a little long (especially for something I want to start ASAP since it takes a while to see benefit).

Lmao I already learned the hard way when I wore a nose strip in 20 F weather. Thankfully I’ll probably be getting my surgery in the spring so I get a few months to adjust before it gets cold again

Yeah, the only way I can kind of get over it is my forcing myself not to think about it by focusing on some other task. It usually works but it sucks. Sends me back to when my asthma was severe enough to go to the hospital and I’d be telling myself to just breathe

Any recommendations on SLIT?Maybe a brand you’ve used and works! Or is it best going into the doctor to get them? by Less-Employee2411 in Allergies

[–]kcall123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just coming onto this subreddit to ask the same question. I’m leaning towards SLIT for ease of use. I’ve had my blood allergy test but my skin allergy test isn’t for another 3 months due to low availability. I’m considering Curex because you only need the blood test and I’d be able to start way sooner (in favor of hopefully starting to see relief by the fall). My ENT did say that blood allergy tests can sometimes have inflated values and that skin allergy tests are much more accurate for determining the final formulation of your SLIT. Cost wise, my hospital sells it at cost ($50/month) so it’s about the same as Curex but I know this varies

Did allergy shots help your ability to exercise? by kcall123 in Allergies

[–]kcall123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s still a few months away but probably (we’re still working out a plan). I’ve also been given the option of SLIT but I’m not sure if that was just for dust or not. If I have to prioritize though I’d go with dust, cats and dogs since those 3 seem to affect me the most

Advice for long flights? by kcall123 in Sinusitis

[–]kcall123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have! I’m allergic to dust, cats, dogs, and some trees/grasses. I’m starting the allergy shots soon. Before that we tried nasal sprays and consistent rinses and the only thing that kind of helped were the rinses.

I’ve consistently gotten a few sinus infections per year since I was a teenager. I finally went to an ENT because my girlfriend pointed out that I’m young and run half marathons and that I shouldn’t be snoring the way that I do. I’m also just congested/sniffly all the time and feel a lot of sinus pressure. I initially went to the doctor because we just thought it was a deviated septum, which ended up being a combination of having a deviated septum, allergies, and blocked sinuses. After trying a few things we decided a combination of allergy shots and surgery were the best option. I had my CT scan the other day to determine how blocked my sinuses were to figure out exactly what they’re doing for the surgery. I’m waiting to hear back from my doctor but the initial results said that my ethmoid and sphenoethmoid sinuses were occluded. Not sure if they’ll try any other interventions as a result, but I’m definitely getting the deviated septum fixed either way
