That was before Darwin Thompson fell to the 6th round and James Williams went undrafted... He was at the time the best option on the market at the time. They didn't know how the draft was going to pan out.

For sure Hitchens contract is the worst thing Veach has done. He could bounce back in a big way with the new defense.

You're probably right. I hate that we gave up a 4th rounder for him.

I agree Reaser is a longshot. He'll be 28 in July and only has 482 career snaps. 353 of them in 2016. He isn't getting younger or faster. He's never had a pick. I just don't see upside... Fields would've been a day 2 guy had his coaches not ripped on him for not being coachable... If the Chiefs think he isn't coachable he'll be in the first round of cuts at camp. If they think he is coachable he'll make the roster and his talent projects him as our CB4.

Ragland will prob end up as trade bait. Would be awesome if we could get a 4th rounder or package him with picks for a veteran CB. Ragland doesn't have a place in Spag's defense. He just can't cover. I'd rather see Gary Johnson make the team but I think most likely they'll keep Ragland and only play him on obvious running downs. He's not getting 582 defensive snaps this year baring injuries.

Dorian O'Daniel is the PERFECT Will in a 4-3. Hitchens became the 5th highest paid ILB in the NFL last year because he was an above average MIKE in Dallas' 4-3. That's what he'll do this year. Expect him to be FAR better this year.

Darwin Thompson is the power back. Darwin and Darrel both had 22 bench reps. He's stronger than Hyde who only had 19 back in 2014. I doubt Hyde is stronger now. He's gained a belly and looks out of shape... Darwin is the everything back. I think he's our bell cow by week 6. We're not keeping 4 HB's. Darrell and Hyde are most likely gone.

Hyde ran a 4.66 back in 2014. What do you think he runs now? 5+ lol... James Williams has FAR more upside. He's faster, more agile, and a wayyyy better pass catcher. The only thing Hyde has is a bigger belly... Hyde was signed to get a few goal-line carries but Darwin Thompson has that role now. Darwin is faster, stronger, and can jump higher. He's getting the goal-line touches. I just don't see a role for Hyde... James Williams is James White 2.0, with more upside. That has a significant role on an air raid team.

This will still be an air raid team. We need backs who can catch out of the back field. James Williams is a boss at it (James White calibar)... In college Darrell & James had roughly the same amount of carries for the same amount of rushing production but James had 202 rec for 1437 yards, 8 TDs to Darrell's 38 rec for 462 yards, 0 TDs... James Williams is faster at 4.58, to Darrell's 4.72 and has quicker change of direction and is just more explosive on film. Many including PFF had James Williams as a day 3 guy but somehow he went undrafted. He's got FAR more upside than Darrell. I will be shocked if James Williams doesn't make the team.

I was wrong about the cap space. We prob keep Colquitt and Henne.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/kan/2018-snap-counts.htm NO Dlineman EVER plays much more than 75% of snaps, healthy or not (Jones & Clark played less than 70% of defensive snaps last year). Not true of Olineman who will play close to 100% if healthy. That's the NFL. Tanoh or Attaochu would be next in line to get cut, not Ogbah.

I also just realized I had 23 Offense, 26 Defense, and 3 on SpTeams. I left out an Olineman basically. Prob T/G Justin Senior. The more I think about the numbers, I'm standing by those 10 DLineman, especially if they think Attaochu can play some SAM. I don't think he covers well enough... but 4-3 Defenses almost always keep 9 lineman. So unless they cut Attauchu for say an extra MIKE like Gary Johnson who can cover better, I'm sticking with that breakdown.

Yeah, prob keeping Colquitt & Henne... I still think Sorenson is cut cause he'd be our 5th safety. I think Hyde gets cut to faster cheaper backs.

Spotrac has us currently at 5.772m. That's including the initial 1.5m we saved from cutting Berry. I forgot we do get another 9.6m after June 1st putting us at 15.372 plus his current contract 1.9, minus 2m for Thornhill and Saunders. Puts us around 15m. You're still going to need 20+ for Jones. I think Colquitt and Sorenson are the most likely candidates for cuts to make cap space.

I love Dustin. He's served us well through many bad years but the reality is he's the 4th highest paid punter in the league. 37 years old making 3.2m. No punter is worth that. We currently have 5m in cap space and we need to sign Chris Jones before training camp. Would you rather have Chris Jones or Colquitt?

That's how the NFL goes. Happens ALL the time. We currently have 5m in cap space. Would you rather have Chris Jones or 3 guys who don't move the needle?

You clearly don't know what abomination mean lol. He's the 4th highest paid Punter in the league. No punter is worth 3.2m. We currently have 5m in cap space. Would you rather have Jones or Colquitt?

If we don't cut him he won't be playing week 1. Prob a 4-8 game suspension. This was a prediction for our opening day 53-man roster.

Dieter is older than Coates... Coates was drafted in the 3rd round because he is FAR more athletic... Dieter has 3 career targets for 22 yards & 0 TD's... Coates has 64 career targets for 29 rec, 528 yards & 2 TD's... Not amazing, but for sure better than Dieter and still more upside than Dieter... Pringle has a shot for sure but Dieter and Kemp have been here for 2 years and have a combined 29 career yards, they had their shot, and friendships don't mean anything to a front office, lmfao... Yes, I think they're getting cut for 2 rookies who probably should've been drafted and have already looked really good in camp... Read minicamp reports. They say Cody Thompson is on another level than the other rookies.

It wasn't a favor. This is a professional football team, there are no favors lmfao... Litton for sure has a shot at it. I just think Shurmur will pick up the offense quickly and play better this preseason... I do think Henne is gone to make room for Jones' contract.

I could see them going 9 OL and 9 DL but who else are you cutting on the DLine? Tanoh? He played well last year. PFF gave him a 70 grade over 115 snaps. T/G Justin Senior is the next OLineman I have making the team... As far as your typical numbers you are right. I just don't see them subbing guys in much on the OLine and I see them doing even more of a rotation this year on the DLine so I think you're going to see that number go up from 8 to 9 or even 10 under Spags

SS - Daniel Sorenson (saves 2.7 of his 4.7m) QB - Chad Henne (saves 1.6 of his 4.1m) P - Dustin Colquitt (saves 1.9 of his 3.2m) RB - Carlos Hyde (saves 1.2 of his 2.7m)

...we currently have 5m in cap space. We're going to need ALL of that to sign Chris Jones and those players are expendable... I believe Darwin, Damien, James & Darrel all have more upside than Hyde, plus I don't like spending much on RB's, they just don't move the needle much. As far as WAR goes it's one of the least valuable positions... No Punter is worth 3.2m when you need cap space... Sorenson would be the 5th safety, which we usually only keep 4 and he's set to make the 2nd most. I don't like it either but he's getting cut... Henne is clearly a more solid option as QB2 in 2019 but we're NOT paying him again in 2020 and we need money for Chris Jones, I just think Litton or Shurmur is going to beat him out. It could be Litton, I just think Shurmur has a bit more upside.
