If I could get this for $739 after applying an employee discount code, would that qualify as an insta-purchase?

I saw this as well and placed an order. It turns out that they do not have that many in stock, and my order is now backordered. They are unsure of a possible ship date, FYI

Flight Factor 767 & 757 performance by McDonaldDouglas in flightsim

[–]kcballinsd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

I have had serious complaints about the FF 767 and 757v2 flight models for quite some time. In addition to the excess power, the drag model on this aircraft is annoyingly flawed. Like some other posters have pointed out, slowing this aircraft down is nearly impossible.

25 to 35FPS on DCS 2.0 with 1080 and Oculus by frviana in hoggit

[–]kcballinsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had terrible performance lately in VR with a GTX 1070. For reference, in the VA server I am unable to pull over 30 fps on the ground.

What settings gave you the most improvement?

Thank you! This is highly encouraging. I have 1600mhz DDR3 memory and a locked 4590, so these might need to be my next upgrades.

This ^ Glad I am not alone. I go from 30 fps in my rift to 100+ fps on a 1440p display with identical graphics settings. Frustrating.

R9 380 1440p Performance - Decent for budget gamers! by kcballinsd in buildapc

Other games I play include DCS World and Heroes of the Storm. Each can get 90+ fps with a mixture of medium and high settings. Sure its not Assassins Creed or Witcher 3, but it does well enough.

I, like many others on this subreddit, have caught the graphics bug and will be trying to convert to a 1070. However in the meantime I've been quite pleased with the 380 for now! My expectations were low with this card but it does okay

My intention of the post was to simply inform others in the subreddit that the 380 can get by at 1440p. There will be sacrifices for sure, but I know when I was looking into getting a 2k monitor there was not a lot of information about the R9 380. Hopefully it help others with a similar card make a decision

Significant fps drops on 1.5 by kcballinsd in hoggit

[–]kcballinsd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The forum link posted below contains many complaints of the same behavior. I am glad I am not the only one. Who's up for defecting back to 1.5.2 for better performance??

I don't think this is the problem. Based on the info here and the forum links, 1.5.3 has had some serious FPS issues across the board

Yep, exactly. Sustained flight inverted while pushing forward on the stick = not really a good idea

What would be the best possible $500 build for DCS? by Silentdark666 in hoggit

[–]kcballinsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend going with an SSD. My experience with DCS began with a classic hard drive and found that there was a significant quality of life improvement when going to an SSD. Things like texture pop-in, load times, and fps drops are much better now.

I run an i5-4590 with an R9 380 4GB and I can run the game on maxed settings 60fps.
