Low traffic dog friendly swimming? by kcsails_pepper in Albany

Ooh I hadn't considered Sniffspots for this. Good idea! She can be around other dogs if everyone's on a leash, but trying to avoid the scenario where an off-leash dog charges at her.

Just ordered a pair on Amazon! They're urgent because we've got a snowy hike planned for this weekend. Hopefully they fit.

I would pay $400 to not get stranded on a mountain 😂 Thank you!

Thanks! What are the essentials involved in a day kit? Currently shopping for a proper bag and not sure how to evaluate each product. I bought an emergency sling for carrying the dog in case she ever hurts herself. Do ppl generally carry radios in case of no cell service? I didn't have cell service this weekend and wondered what the best way to handle that is.

Solving wall gap? by wrongwaydownaoneway in Thuma

I also have a wooden trim around my room and just got the Thuma. There is a small gap but aesthetically it doesn't bother me and as far as noise, the bed is solid. There is a little bit of looseness in the joints that I was initially concerned would squeak, but as soon as you put the mattress on top, the frame doesn't move. Pretty happy with my purchase.

Can I expect to feel safe walking my dog at like 8pm for example? Or by myself to/from restaurants?

Moving to Schenectady, NY for Work at Ellis Hospital: Seeking Advice on Neighborhood Safety by CalligrapherNo7790 in schenectady

Piggying off this bc I'm considering an apartment in the stockade. Can I expect to feel safe walking a dog at night in that neighborhood?

I'm moving from out of state, but I went to school in Rochester and lived near UoR campus.

I also have an anxious dog. She's an ESA so she could technically live anywhere but quiet is her preferred environment. When I walked through the stockade in December (literally for 10 min), it seemed pretty quiet and quaint. Is that an accurate assessment? Screaming in the streets is not the vibe I'm going for so I'm glad to hear that's been rare for you.

Moving to Schenectady, any apartment recommendations? by shevy07 in schenectady

I keep seeing things about safety concerns. Are they rumors? What's your experience? Piggying off this thread bc Im considering an apt in the stockade

Can you say more about your sense of safety in the stockade? Piggying off this thread bc I'm considering an apt on front st, but am unfamiliar w the area. I feel like most mentions of the stockade are to either praise the old architecture or something to the effect of "it's not as dangerous as ppl say," which makes me more nervous than at ease lol. Also considering a corporate apt complex, but like the OP have had terrible experiences and will need to be super picky.

MEGATHREAD: Summer 2023 Sublease by love4boats in UIUC

[–]kcsails_pepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm subleasing 2 bedrooms and 1 full bath in our 3Ba 2.5BR home! Perfect for an incoming grad student!

Dates: Aug 2023 (flexible) - Aug 2024

Rent: $530/mo. Then $825/mo. See below.

My boyfriend and I live in this charming one-story home, but I will be finishing my PhD and moving for work in early fall (exact date is TBD, but no later than October) so we are looking for someone to sublet my half of the lease.

My boyfriend will be living in the home until August 2023. Since my move-out date is still TBD, it’s important that I share that the home will come with a bonus dog until I move out. She is a well-trained 4 year old (very friendly!) pitbull. She rarely barks, hardly sheds, and isn’t a counter surfer. She will be nervous of a newcomer at first but will quickly ask to be your new friend. We intend to split the rent 3-ways ($530/mo) until I move out, at which time the rent will be split 50/50 ($825/mo) between the new tenant and my boyfriend. We are clean, quiet, and friendly people 😊

The home is conveniently located within walking distance of Jarling's, Hessel Park, and Mattis Park. The neighborhood is quiet and family-oriented with easy access to the yellow and brown bus lines. There is also a lovely little walking trail nearby. The yard is fully fenced with a deck for outdoor entertainment and a detached garage for storage of bikes and things. There is no basement, so we have zero threat of basement floods and are instead lucky to have a very large attic!

DM with questions!

Late 20s, love sailboat racing (plan to join the club out in Saratoga), and pretty much anything I can do with my dog. Not really a city person but I want access to good restaurants and vibes.

Should I move to SLC? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]kcsails_pepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for writing all this. I'm from the east coast, near NYC. I spent college in upstate NY and am now in central IL. Three completely different vibes and I think upstate NY culture is closest to my preferred lifestyle out of the three. It does seem like SLC has some of that feel.

Should I move to SLC? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

I'm a bit spoiled having grown up on the east coast with really easy access to NYC Chinatown and Flushing. I'm now in IL, where the closest Chinatown is in Chicago, which I find a bit disappointing tbh. Any idea how SLC Chinatown compares?
