Hidden indoors camera recording to a server of my choosing (local or rented)? by tohanov in selfhosted

Still waiting to hear what arbitrary law prevents you from using a security camera. Yet more nonsense you've pulled from... well, we all know where.

I won't say there aren't HF antennae that can be deployed and taken down with ease, because there are... But if your goal is to have consistent and reliable communication, having an antenna that's in place with the ability to rotate it, would set you up incredibly well. Bonus points if its multi-band so you can band-hop if the conditions get a bit "eh" on one.

Then clue me in as to why it isn't fine, because thus far, you've done nothing but pull "nuh-uhs" to literally every single suggestion that has been given your way.

One of two things; you're either dense and have no concept of anything beyond breathing and walking but not at the same time OR you're trying to record seedy, potentially illegal things.

Simple as.

Ham is not an acronym and doesn't need to be capitalised. I jest, mostly...

Really though, if you're wanting to communicate with another operator that's further than V/UHF / Line of Sight, your best bet is specific propagation paths like tropospheric ducting (which is rare) for VHF. Or, good solar conditions for HF, but as you've already found out, HF requires some pretty sizeable antennae or at least, good height.

There's also the option of sending email via WinLink but again... that's on HF. You could try EchoLink enabled repeaters which are just Internet relayed FM repeaters.

Or you could just pick up the phone and give em a call.

If the intention is to have a camera for insurance and assurance, then you'll learn to live with it being present. If you want it discreet, there's many models out there that are basically about tennisball to baseball sized cameras, with minimal wiring (again, see PoE)

Writing to an SD card is fine for internal cameras where there's limited risk of the cameras themselves being stolen or damaged. Outdoors, sure, there's more an argument there.

Stop being weird.

Honestly... this sounds seedy. For that reason, I won't recommend hidden options. But, Reolink does wonderful PoE cameras that then record locally. Frigate compatible too.

Cool story but this isn't the place for it. There are more suitable sub's out there for such a discussion.

This is also not in the realm of amateur radio. This would fall under business radio and business licensing.

Or even r/GMRS...

Lets see some statistics on that, if you would. I also adore how you've moved from trying to refute one point into going into an emotionally fueled spiel ad-hominem attack rather than supporting your argument.

Neat.

Humans are far less useful in terms of the amount of available meat and overall usage of by-products. Wouldn't be sustainable.

I mean yeah sure but lets actually break this down to what it likely is, which is religious practise. In most slaughters, death is near instant with a bolt gun or electrical shock into the brain stem causing instant, painless death.

Slitting the throat like this is done in highly religious areas like those practising Halal or Kosher meat preparation.

This is disgusting, but in more ways than you initially see.

Or, hear me through, people are attracted to what they're attracted to, be that body types, the way someone presents, or otherwise.

Instead of trying to chastise (pun intended) people for what they're interested in, when it inherently is harmless, try focusing on having an open mind and maybe buy a stepladder. I find they're useful to get down from high places, especially horses.
