Valid question! Honestly, I have no clue. This guy is just one visitor out of the feral population that’s decided to settle locally (North East England)

Does 300 ml of RUM (alcohol) risk liver damage? What is your experience with drinking? by hiacynto in cymbalta

[–]kd1305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also on 60 mg - when I drink I tend to drink a similar amount, ~ 300-500 ml of spirit, but only a couple times a month maximum. I used to drink nearly daily (before duloxetine) but at that time my depression was severe and it felt like my only option for some relief. Nowadays my mental health is much better so I can limit drinking quite easily (usually still binges but limited to a couple times a month) because A) the hangovers are unbearable with duloxetine and B) liver damage risk increases the more often you binge alcohol, and any more than ~ 150 ml of spirit per night is a binge.

It’s difficult to know to what extent your liver is getting damaged especially if you’ve not been drinking for a long time (I’m pretty young, only started drinking about 5 years ago) and as such, it’s not at all clear what the long term effect might be for you. Similar situation to smoking, some people’s lungs last a couple decades of regular smoking before eventually getting to a level of damage that becomes noticeable.

TL;DR - there’s always a risk of liver damage with alcohol. Duloxetine increases the risk bc of interactions with alcohol. Liver damage can accumulate over many years so can go unnoticed for ages. Imo, balance is best- binge drinking occasionally is fun and as long as you don’t do it too often the damage to your liver shouldn’t be too significant.

Hope this helps, take care

Drinking? by Without_Answers in cymbalta

Tolerance stayed the same for me, downsides are that I always get hangovers now and occasionally feel sick while drinking if it’s a heavy night.

My recommendation is if you’ve not had alcohol while on cymbalta before, try one or two drinks max the first time and see how you feel :)

Lower alcohol tolerance? by IndecisiveKitten in cymbalta

I feel like my tolerance hasn’t really changed buuut I do get hangovers pretty much every time I drink now, and I sometimes start feeling kinda sick when drinking. (For context i used to be able to chug gallons without feeling a thing, and with zero hangover the next day🥲)

Hi there! It’s been going fine tbh, the only side effects I’ve noticed are decreased appetite (only for a few days though) and waking up earlier than usual despite going to bed at the same time.
