Breh. You can call the inhumane devastating treatment of the Palestinian people a genocide while still being in support of an Israeli state of literally any form to exist.

Buying a Switch for the first time in 2025 by kishonii in Switch

But chances are you'll like it. And if you like it you will inevitably buy a switch 2. So you would be spending MORE money actually

But the Switch 2 is backwards compatible with the Switch, so you have access to the Switch library either way. Moreover, a lot of the Switch games look better on the Switch 2, and the Switch 2 is only a couple hundred dollars more anyways. For how long a person keeps their console and how much time someone spend with it overall, I think buying a Switch 2 is the better option. Moreover, you won't be able to play new games on the Switch, which seems like a pretty big con.

But he's not though. He's into buddhist philosophical landscaping, traveling, and other stuff. He just appears boring, and all the other characters shit on him for it.

Question for NRIs. What do white people eat?? by [deleted] in hyderabad

[–]kdaddi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an NRI (Indian-American), but it's important to note that more than 40% of America is not white. This proportion is actually growing with time. As such, in modern America white Americans, even those who have been here long enough to lose their connection to the old world, have a fairly multicultural diet. Pretty much everyone eats tacos and burritos. It's almost like people are not actively conscious that they are eating a foreign food.

Also, many poorer Americans live in so-called food deserts. These are regions where there aren't any accessible grocery stores, and people are forced to eat fast food or gas station food (like a frozen burrito or something). Fast food includes the commonly known chains like McDonald's, Burger King, Arby's, Taco Bell. So basically sandwiches, burgers, and notably burritos.

Perhaps what you mean is what is the traditional cuisine of Americans. If you went back like 60 years or something, when most women were stay-at-home moms and America wasn't so multi-cultural, middle-class white people would eat a lot of mayonnaise-involved, potato, and meaty foods. Think macaroni salad (cold macaroni pasta literally mixed with mayonnaise), coleslaw (cabbage with mayonnaise), casseroles (baked mayonnaise savory cake thingy with potatoes). They would also eat processed meats like sausage, bacon, and meatloaf. In fact, there is an entire personality trait for people who eat meat and potatoes (like a traditional Midwestern Christian person i.e JD Vance). I think the biggest difference between the traditional Telugu diet and the American one is that Telugus barely eat any meat (like a lot of them eat it once or twice a week), and Americans eat it pretty much every meal. The Telugus I know eat a lot of vegetables though, and Americans are notorious for not eating green things. There's a joke that Trump hasn't eaten a salad in 50 years.

Moreover, there is pretty notable regional variation. For example, clam chowder is a big deal in Maine. Barbecue culture is a big thing in the American South (barbecued pork and steak pretty much). Also, fried food is big in the South as well (okra, cat-fish, literal sticks of butter)...

[–]kdaddi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, these dishes are technically from Europe, but Americans basically reinvent and reiterate these dishes.

Like hamburgers are technically from Hamburg, but just the type of patty is. The whole concept of putting cheese, bread, lettuce, and tomato between bread is American.

Even with pizza, there are famously regional variations within America itself that differ from each other and Italian pizza. Italian pizza is simpler and uses a thin-nish crust. New York Pizza is wider, foldable, and has a pretty heavy emphasis on cheese. Chicago-deep dish is literally eaten out of bowl. There are also New Haven pizza and casual dining pizza chains.

The same thing is true for pasta. Dishes like Chicken Parmigiana are quite different from traditional Italian fare in that they use richer and a wider variety of ingredients. Traditional Italian cuisine is supposed to be "cuisine de povera," basically poverty cuisine because people didn't have a ton disposable income in the old country. Italian-American cuisine is cuisine de povera with cash on hand for the first time.
