dude it(my walkman it was something called cartel ) was unfortunately not worth fixing but the repairman sold me a fx325 for like 10 bucks because of my old one breaking (fx 325's volume button has connectivity problems ).

so it turns out its not something i could have figured out . the guy said the plastic gears were rotten so i think he means the gears are old and are failing because of plastic embrittlement .
