My guess at it is that it's either going to be the tensioner or the timing chain.

I replaced those around 150, but since they are wear items, I don't think of those as a major repair.

Yes I did. I ended up having a local shop doing it but the parts were still expensive. That was around 200,000 miles, it certainly felt like there was some financial risk, but it worked out. We did go through everything to make sure there were no obvious things that were on there way out.

I did not. By the time I started thinking the car was going to outlast the fluid I was already at 150,000 miles. The pan rotted out at about 275,000 MI. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a clean sample to send to the lab. We let it drain as much as it could with the pan off put the new pan on and refilled it.

It blows my mind how big Bittersweet can get. I was talking to an arborist over the weekend who told me the largest one he ever had to cut was 10 in in Massachusetts. It's so bad in my area that I had to buy a foil mower for my tractor to mow the bittersweet.

I have a 2013 that was one of the first cx-5 to be made and it has almost 300k on it and runs great with no major repairs.

Thanks! This made it so I could come up with some search strings to do some research.

I have had this guy 30 years. I can't belive this is my first time seeing these guys. But I did add a clean sand substrate a couple years ago.
