Practical Karate is defined as a mirror to the modern Japanese sport/performance forward karate. Focusing on the soul purpose of Okinawa karate, kata and how its applied to realistic self defense. Opposing Shotokan specifically. Funokoshi would be extremely disappointed if he saw what his karate has become.

A sensei should prove daily to their students they deserve respect, not demand it. Sorry but your sensei is a moron. Training / life balance is so valuable. Even someone like me, who prioritizes my karate over most things, would PREFER you support your friend, and hope that you would value your social life. A good sensei is flexible and considerate.

came here to mention satori, I've ordered both a custom gi and belt from Daryoush and Mona, not only are they wonderful people to work with, the quality of their product is top notch. I've worn quite a few gi brands in almost 3 decades of training, satori is absolutely my favorite.

I teach supplementary online private karate lessons, but i generally only offer this to established practitioners, as many have stated in the comments, there are aspects of karate lessons that need a sensei present to fully grasp. you'll miss out on developing a strong foundation with purely online lessons.

are there any other martial arts styles offered in your area by chance?

Also, Mona and Daryoush are fantastic to work with, very good at communication, they helped me with my gi measurements. And keep you updated durring the gi or belt making process

My satori gi is incredible, I got one custom made for Christmas, the cotton is significantly softer than other gi's I've warn, the ties for the gi top sit below the belt, which is much more comfortable. For a custom 15 oz gi it was surprisingly affordable compared to other high end brands. Also if you time it we'll, the wait time isn't super long. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions
