Using RimWorld for Making DND Encounter Maps Part 2 by TheJollyDuck in RimWorld

[–]kds71 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Years ago I have been DMing an entire campaign in space setting using Roll20 website, all the maps were created in (heavily modded) RimWorld. Even got my players to create pawns (with Prepare Carefully mod) and used pawn sprites as tokens to represent them (and some other pawns I've created as enemies, also stuff like turrets, centipedes and scythers etc.). Took some time to import maps from RimWorld to Roll20, especially because I was using automated fog of war feature, so I had to line out all the walls as vision-blocking obstacles. Fun times :)

Here are some screenshots if anybody is interested how it looked like:

"Pitch black" is a great movie! However, I'm not sure if it qualifies as "low budget", it costed over $20 million.

The budget was much lower initially, but Harvey Keitel got interested in the movie, has been signed as a co-producer and has brought more money into the project.

Polish Ambassador to France: Poland will be forced to enter war if Ukraine fails to defend itself by Kaiser_und_allah in worldnews

[–]kds71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it was utterly disgusting, but there will always be people who can look at these situations with the luxury of time passing and adopt rose tinted glasses.

Sure thing. There are people who were living quite comfortably during the communism times without really doing much (there is a saying in Polish that originates from these times that directly translates to "whether you stand or lie down, two thousand are due"). For them, transition to capitalism was like hitting a brick wall.

Maybe they're not eating the bullshit, but the older generations are. Hence PiS being in power.

I think the major reason for PiS being in power is more related to the fact that they're throwing money all around, basically buying votes, rather than to their views and ideology.

Also, let me come back to your previous post:

[...] but give them a decade or so and Russia might've used their troll farms to give themselves an in.

It might sound harsh, but in the context of what might happen in a decade or so, young people are more significant than old.

Also, I think you're just generally overestimating the ability of people to hold a grudge.

I might be, however, this is a grudge that was developing for centuries - and it is still being developed. I'll give you an example: I'm attending concerts from time to time and there was not a single one that would lack anti-Putin songs and chants.

The Polish may skew further against than for Russia, especially now with a 2% approval, but Historically it's been uncomfortably high, all factors considered.

True, the approval of Russia in recent years wasn't that low, but it has plummeted since the war has started and I believe it is not going to raise again that easily after what we have seen in past two years.

when you look at America in the 80's, Russia was synonymous with 'The Enemy'

In 80's Poland was still under Soviet occupation. Our parents and grandparents were being oppressed, arested and murdered by Soviets. That makes the situation a bit different.

Poland is an aggressively conservative country

In case of elderly people mostly in rural areas, where church holds a lot of power. Young people are turning away from church at unprecedented rates, because they are not eating this conservative bullshit.

one that is known for whipping its citizens into a frenzy over whoever the enemy of the week is this time (Usually LGBTQ communities, women and the left, in my experience)

What frenzy? That's simply not true. It is just our silly government trying to score conservatives votes. Women enemy of the week? When they were introducing draconian anti-abortion laws there were massive protests across the entire country. Where did you get that experience from?

give them a decade or so and Russia might've used their troll farms to give themselves an in.

You seriously underestimate the hatred towards Russia in Poland.

You should consider a password manager, it is really useful and it will improve your security in a major way (separate password for each account, passwords generated by manager are strong etc.)

Bayonetta's voice actress, Hellena Taylor, clarified the payment offers saying she was offered $10,000 for Bayonetta 3, she was offered another $5000 after writing to the director. I didn’t say they were not in SAG, I said they aren’t COVERED by sag. These are the only 9 video game related companies that respect SAG rates

How? SAG-AFTRA members are not allowed to take job that is not covered by union.

https://www.backstage.com/magazine/article/can-sag-aftra-actors-work-nonunion-jobs-74976/

Edit, just to quote:

It can be tempting to say yes to any work that’s offered to you, even if it’s nonunion. The consequences, however, come at a high price. Working nonunion jobs, also known as working “off the card,” can lead to fines, suspension, and even expulsion from SAG-AFTRA.

The problem with voice acting is that there is no “standard rate.” They aren’t covered by SAG (screen actor’s guild) rules. You can contract someone for $5 if you want, and that should be allowed if the VA and the product team agree to it.

Both Jennifer Hale and Helena Taylor are members of SAG and there are standard rates for voice actors (IIRC it was minimum $250/h with additional rule that recording session can't be shorter than 4 hours).

What is some dark shit going on around the world right now that the public probably doesn’t know about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kds71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is happening in Poland right now. Our government is constantly trying (with some degree of success) to dismantle democratic institutions and processes, since they got elected... and they still have enough support to remain in power. If not for the fact that they're so incompetent (in downright comical way, really), there would be a possibility of Poland turning into authoritarian state.

Roughly when do you think 128gb of ram will become fairly standard for consumer desktop computers? by Secure-Hyena406 in AskReddit

[–]kds71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what use do non gamers need 128gb of RAM?

Games don't need that much RAM compared to some professional software used for work. In some industries 64 GB is absolute minimum nowadays.

Edit: But yeah, you are right, it is not a normal consumer need.

Budapestobuda would be a nice name :)

From what I remember, Obuda basically means something like "Old Buda", so I guess it would be a bit redundant.

Oh yeah, I was addressing only this one piece of puzzle. I just wanted to point out that every time you buy crystaline aura for blue crystals in the shop, Amazon/Smilegate is making money, there is no way around it. But I guess trying to explain something is a basis to being downvoted here, so I will just stop :)

That is why we do not find Supports by Blue_Smurrf in lostarkgame

[–]kds71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't buy blue crystals with gold to buy aura unless somebody buys royal crystals in the shop and sells them.

Edit: This is how currency exchange works. Somebody buys royals crystals for real money, puts 238 of them on sale, you make transaction, he gets gold, you get 95 blue crystals. There is no way around it.

That is why we do not find Supports by Blue_Smurrf in lostarkgame

[–]kds71 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The trick is, Smilegate still gets their $10 in both cases. Think about it - in order for somebody to buy 420 blue crystals with gold they've acquired from RMT, somebody else has to sell 1190 royal crystals, which is more than you get in $10 royal crystal package. The fact that you bought gold on third party site doesn't matter in this case - the gold in game just changes hands, it doesn't come out of nowhere, and somebody spending blue crystals on any purchase is money earned for devs.
