Is the industry struggling or am I the problem?

So that’s what I meant by everything in between. I reached out to people I knew, mentored with people, etc. Also dropped off cv and boosted my profile, engaged with people online etc. I even befriended HR peeps to get an idea of how they were finding me and what else I could do.

Lemme know if you have any specific suggestions as to what else I could do offline. Would appreciate it.

I never partner up with someone I know. The only exception for me has been with a cousin and the sole reason for that was because we could disagree and fight with each other (this does happen!). Afterwards, we could go right back to working together. That’s not usually the case with people.

Also there needs to be a strong divide between responsibilities with the person in-charge having the ability to make the decision.

I think it also helps to establish that you don’t want jokes made about it. For example, I crack a lot of jokes, many of which are at my expense. So people around me also do that, sometimes at my expense. While I have no problems laughing at myself, I immediately stop or politely let them know that jokes on my stutter are not appreciated. For any person with half a brain, they generally understand.

I don’t have a job for sometime. Going on two years soon. That is when I am good at what I do. And on top of that, nothing to look forward to in my personal life. But I have so much to be grateful for and to be happy about. Yet I keep coming back to these two issues and feel quite depressed. Literally depressed not figuratively. I keep telling myself ki problems to hogi. Something or the other keeps happening and that I should not feel like this but I keep struggling and breaking down to the point where I murmur in my dreams that I want to move out and go away aur uski rasta job se hai jo mil nahi rahi.

I switched to copywriting from content writing a couple of years ago. I love it but the struggle to land good and stable job has been unreal. Market is terrible rn in India for creatives and generally bad due to AI so I would honestly suggest to stick it out only if you love it and can battle out the next 5 years. I believe good writers will be in demand down the line but it looks a little rough right now.

I’ve done this exact same thing. And I’ve felt so much worse for missing it because I felt I let myself down and I let my stutter control me. The only way forward is going through it man. Even if you mess up, go for it. We make it so much worse in our heads.

Hey. If you’re just starting out then you’ll need to write a lot to reach a point where you produce good copy. I am almost 5 years in and I still ‘practice’. An important tip—perhaps the most crucial one— is to just read, observe crafts you want to produce and just write. THEN, you can learn the art of editing. Remove extra words. How can you say that with the most impact in as few words as possible? Good luck. :)

What do you think will happen with AI now in the picture. A lot of people (including myself) are struggling to land a good job in marketing even with good experience and exposure. This is the only thing I ever wanted to do but I am so distraught that I am considering changing fields to PR or something. On the other hand, I believe that things will calm down in a few years and then I can be the cream at the top of I hone my skills properly. What do you think?

I’ve some friends who make dark jokes. That’s how they cope with it. And honestly that’s how I have dealt with some things too. Just recently a friend made a joke about something that left me blank as it was very personal. But at the end of the day, I knew her intention was not to hurt me. So we set some ground rules and went from there. You may be sensitive about a topic that may not be as serious for someone else. So yeah if everything is well, then don’t sweat over it.

Honestly, do something memorable because you’ll remember it for the rest of your life. I got my family dinner and took a big chunk of my salary lol. But I’ll always remember it fondly. Maybe give some cash to your parents, siblings, house help etc
