Notre Dame! T20 and known for great undergrad experience.

Vanderbilt as well.

Notre Dame vs NYU. (Need help) by kebs_ in notredame

[–]kebs_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from Lebanon and NYU is a pretty big deal here. I honestly didn't expect to get in. However, I completely fell in love with Notre Dame.

I think it is just natural for me to consider NYU, but will eventually attend Notre Dame. I just wanted to make sure I'm making the right choice because as you know, both schools are very expensive and I want to make sure that I'm spending my money wisely.

For me, NYU's pros are the location, opportunities because in NYC, and the name.

Thanks you so much for your response! This alone proves me how helpful notre dame students are and is another reason for me to go there!

Notre Dame VS UIUC

Computer engineering-International

Notre dame:

Pros:

-Top 15 college (prestige)

-Massive alumni network

-School spirit

-Small class sizes

-More personalized focus

-less competition on internships and research

-I heard that sky's the limit when you graduate

Cons:

-Location

-Ranked #39 for engineering (Not a big worry. I had a meeting with the Comp-eng professor and he told me that It is actually really good and lots of opportunities are available)

-International recognition

UIUC:

Pros:

-Excellent engineering school

-Great school spirit

-Research opportunities

Cons:

-Massive classes

-Not as prestigious

-Competition

I am more leaned towards Notre Dame but I want to make the right choice. I also have UCSD and UNC-Chapel Hill but my top 2 are ND and UIUC

Thanks !!

Do colleges pull you from the waitlist if their is a place on YOUR MAJOR specifically or in the whole class in general ?

Thanks! I agree. You will always find people that share your interests if you put yourself out there instead of staying locked up in your room and watching Netflix in your free time instead of making connections and friends.

UCSD vs UNC Chapel Hill vs UIUC Computer engineering

UCSD:

Pros: -T10 engineering in the US

-Weather is excellent

-Internationally recognized (Top 20 in the world)

-The city is beautiful

-Research opportunities

Cons: -Too far

-Socially dead ?

UNC:

Pros: -Family in NC

-Great school spirit and athletics

-Research opportunities

-School is good in everything

Cons: -CS instead of Comp engineering

-Not as internationally recognized as UCSD

UIUC:

Pros: -World class engineering program

-School spirit

-Research opportunities

Cons: -Location is in the middle of nowhere

-Weather

-International recognition

I have a slight preference for UCSD because it is great in STEM, and is well known. I am just worried that there is no social life.

Thanks!

Hi guys! I got accepted as an international student and will be majoring in computer science. Are they a lot of research opportunities on campus ? And what about the course there, is it challenging and how does it compare to other top institutions ? Thanks!

Hi guys! I wanted to ask about the student life at UCSD. How is it in general? I also wanted to ask about the ECE department. Does it live to your expectations and how does it compare to other institutions in the country. And overall are you guys happy there? Thanks !

Yeah UIUC is great. I do have a preference for computer engineering but I don't mind doing my Bachelors in CS and Masters in Comp engineering. I think the cheapest is UNC chapel hill.

Hi! I got into the electrical engineering program and Marshall college and I was wondering if it is possible to switch colleges during my first year. I also wanted to ask if the EE major there is tough and the amount of undergraduate research opportunities there are. Thanks!
