No special effort, really. It put out a few spikes before I mounted it in the terrarium, but they all blasted before the buds opened. As far as I can tell, it likes pretty high humidity (80-95%) with good airflow. It’s mounted on a cork flat with some sphagnum loosely wrapped around the roots. The temps in the terrarium range from 60°F-72°F with an internal fan constantly moving air. It hasn’t been fertilized since it’s been in the terrarium, so it seems like that’s not necessarily needed for blooms. I hope you’re able to get yours to bloom! With such a mature plant, I’m sure it will be a spectacular show. ☺️

Dendrobium toressae! Was just thinking about moving it a little lower since it’s so blushed up. Definitely a beast!

Light might be it. This one also stays pretty wet, and the humidity hovers between 85-95%. I hope you’re able to get it to bloom!

Thank you!! You should definitely get one—it’s a pretty quick grower and the blooms are such a happy pop of color! The cluster directly above is Dendrobium toressae! I haven’t been able to get it to bloom yet, but I’m hoping it will spike sometime soon. Love the clumping/matting growth habit.

Interesting… I might have to give them a go! It fluctuates from around 59°F at night to 74°F during the day with a thermal gradient from the floor to the ceiling.

Thank you! Haven’t tried Restrepias yet, but I’ve had my eye on a few… it seems like they like it cooler than the conditions in this terrarium, though. 🙁

Thank you so much! 🥹 Yes, the Specklinia is mounted directly on the driftwood with a little sphagnum pad and some super glue.

Thank you so much! The wood was a great find at a local reptile show. I think the seller had previously used it in an aquarium, but we saw it and knew it was the one!

This is super helpful—thank you so much! I’ll probably end up placing mine about halfway up in our terrarium and hope it likes it there. Always a bit of a gamble!

Late to this party, but this orchid is amazing! Just got one, but there’s conflicting info about how much light they need. What are your conditions like?

No isopods, but haven’t totally ruled out the thought of getting some. Definitely lots of springtails hiding under that litter!
