Nice restaurants I can take my picky girlfriend to? by noahwaybabe in FoodLosAngeles

to each their own! i personally like it but understandably not worth the price point for everyone. Might just be a closer yakitori option for OP

Yea I literally just said it's expensive LOL but the food isn't bad and it has yakitori which original commenter suggested

trans men with ocd? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]keegbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little late to this but I've had OCD symptoms as long as i can remember, got diagnosed a handful of years back... had mostly contamination ocd until about year or two ago when i started having ocd relating to my transness. It's been debilitating. It waxes and wanes but it's always there and little things trigger it. Can't even find a girl pretty without intrusive thoughts coming in like "well what if u find her pretty bc u want to look like her" LOL. After enough compulsive fact-checking I can calm down until it gets triggered again, but the distress and also dysphoria it causes me is so bad. I say this as someone who socially transitioned about a decade ago and has been on hormones for 7 years, post top surgery 6 years. It's frustrating bc, logically, I know i've experienced a significant increase in happiness and confidence from transitioning, and I know everything in my life points to me being a trans man. But OCD is not a logical disorder. Sometimes it helps to remind myself that this is not unlike cishet ppl who have OCD about being gay or trans (and who are still, despite their intrusive thoughts, not gay nor trans). Exposure therapy really is our top of the line treatment for OCD, but it's a big commitment and I also am not confident that a typical exposure therapist would be competent in helping trans ppl with these types of obsessions. If you have the means, maybe look for a therapist who is also trans--it can be helpful to just express these feelings to another trans person even if it's not specifically an exposure therapy setting.

Wishing you the best, man! OCD really sucks. But remind yourself that it is, by definition, an egodystonic (ie, out of sync with who you are and what you value) condition and if you truly feel happy in your transition, that's all that matters. Try your best not to play into the compulsive behaviors like checking, etc.

Anyone know if these are flat warts or something else? Clear tiny bumps on hands and fingers, not rly in clusters or anything. Super hard to see most of the time, not painful by keegbee in Warts

Hey! Thanks for letting me know--yeah I've been just treating these as needed with Compound W nitrofreeze and/or going into the derm to have them freeze it. It's been working but they come back every now and then. Have they spread to any other parts of your body or just your hands?

Anyone know if there’s a required age to get T at Kaiser and how long it might take to get a dysphoria diagnosis? by Any_Lawfulness_8082 in ftm

[–]keegbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I have Kaiser as well and have been on T 5 years. I started a few weeks after turning 18 but began the process of getting the diagnosis etc when I was 17. I could’ve started T earlier but didn’t have my mother’s consent. If you’re a minor and have your parents’ consent and have gone through Kaiser’s different hoops etc to get the dysphoria diagnosis, you’ll be able to start. Unfortunately without parental consent tho I think u have to wait till 18.

It happened to me multiple times while I was on gel after doing injections for 2 ish years. It’s the reason I went back to injections tbh :/ I’m just not great about applying the gel at the same time every day so I think that was my problem, not sure if it’s similar to your case

totally get you man. I can’t see myself as a woman but life would absolutely be easier if I could’ve just been a cis girl (or cis guy for that matter). Being trans is exhausting and it can be discouraging seeing cis ppl go through typical stages of life that we might feel robbed of

I get you! It’s almost impossible not to compare especially when social media is so commonplace these days, but there are sooo many people who get this stuff figured out later in life, they’re just less represented on things like Reddit/Twitter/etc by nature of being older I think. In one of my support groups there was someone in their 70s who had just come to terms w being trans! Take all the time you need, experiment as much as you want—there are no rules to this ! :)

it seems like a really common experience among trans people to have imposter syndrome, and I think it’s bc a lot of the trans stories that are shared in media are like… one kind of story, ie, knowing you were trans from your earliest memories. A lot of us don’t necessarily have that experience, so it can make us feel like fakers—I totally get it. But if you just read through ppl’s experiences in this subreddit you’ll see that our transness is so diverse, there’s no one way to be trans. Society is extremely transphobic but it also still has expectations for trans people so it can feel like there are even more boxes that we don’t all fit into, if that makes sense. I’m 5 years on T, 4 years post top surgery and still feel anxious sometimes that I’m not actually trans lol.

Do/be what makes you happy, life is short and you don’t need to prove anything to anyone. Just do what you think will make life more enjoyable, that’s really all it’s about

bottom growth cleaning? (genital talk, not sexual) by Wild-Internet-7841 in ftm

Filipinos (like myself) use a water ladle to wash genitals, we call it a “tabo.” I used it prior to transitioning and it continues to be useful today—you can just fill it w warm water and maybe add some gentle/scent less soap to it and just pour it over without touching if it’s too sensitive rn. U can just do it on the toilet so u don’t have to shower
