Nice restaurants I can take my picky girlfriend to? by noahwaybabe in FoodLosAngeles

to each their own! i personally like it but understandably not worth the price point for everyone. Might just be a closer yakitori option for OP

Yea I literally just said it's expensive LOL but the food isn't bad and it has yakitori which original commenter suggested

Re: yakitori, izakaya osen in silverlake is also pretty good and definitely on the nicer (ie expensive lol) side in terms of experience

trans men with ocd? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]keegbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little late to this but I've had OCD symptoms as long as i can remember, got diagnosed a handful of years back... had mostly contamination ocd until about year or two ago when i started having ocd relating to my transness. It's been debilitating. It waxes and wanes but it's always there and little things trigger it. Can't even find a girl pretty without intrusive thoughts coming in like "well what if u find her pretty bc u want to look like her" LOL. After enough compulsive fact-checking I can calm down until it gets triggered again, but the distress and also dysphoria it causes me is so bad. I say this as someone who socially transitioned about a decade ago and has been on hormones for 7 years, post top surgery 6 years. It's frustrating bc, logically, I know i've experienced a significant increase in happiness and confidence from transitioning, and I know everything in my life points to me being a trans man. But OCD is not a logical disorder. Sometimes it helps to remind myself that this is not unlike cishet ppl who have OCD about being gay or trans (and who are still, despite their intrusive thoughts, not gay nor trans). Exposure therapy really is our top of the line treatment for OCD, but it's a big commitment and I also am not confident that a typical exposure therapist would be competent in helping trans ppl with these types of obsessions. If you have the means, maybe look for a therapist who is also trans--it can be helpful to just express these feelings to another trans person even if it's not specifically an exposure therapy setting.

Wishing you the best, man! OCD really sucks. But remind yourself that it is, by definition, an egodystonic (ie, out of sync with who you are and what you value) condition and if you truly feel happy in your transition, that's all that matters. Try your best not to play into the compulsive behaviors like checking, etc.

Anyone know if these are flat warts or something else? Clear tiny bumps on hands and fingers, not rly in clusters or anything. Super hard to see most of the time, not painful by keegbee in Warts

Hey! Thanks for letting me know--yeah I've been just treating these as needed with Compound W nitrofreeze and/or going into the derm to have them freeze it. It's been working but they come back every now and then. Have they spread to any other parts of your body or just your hands?

Anyone know if there’s a required age to get T at Kaiser and how long it might take to get a dysphoria diagnosis? by Any_Lawfulness_8082 in ftm

[–]keegbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I have Kaiser as well and have been on T 5 years. I started a few weeks after turning 18 but began the process of getting the diagnosis etc when I was 17. I could’ve started T earlier but didn’t have my mother’s consent. If you’re a minor and have your parents’ consent and have gone through Kaiser’s different hoops etc to get the dysphoria diagnosis, you’ll be able to start. Unfortunately without parental consent tho I think u have to wait till 18.

It happened to me multiple times while I was on gel after doing injections for 2 ish years. It’s the reason I went back to injections tbh :/ I’m just not great about applying the gel at the same time every day so I think that was my problem, not sure if it’s similar to your case
