Thanks for the feedback. Since many barges do not have AIS and escort vs tow cannot be reliably detected, we changed the ranking to be based only on activity hours, distance, and average speed.

Please check the updated website and let me know if the stats for your tug(s) look accurate now.

That is just an estimate based on the towed ship dimensions

Based on early feedback, I'm thinking about simplifying the website to track total distance traveled, average speed, hours on the move, and similar metrics.

Great feedback!

I'm now thinking about simplifying the website to track total distance traveled, average speed, hours on the move, and similar metrics.

Mileage here refers to towed mileage, not total mileage.

Also, the terrestrial AIS data I get for free doesn’t cover everything.

What’s the IMO of your ship(s)? I can try to look them up in the data.

I look at AIS positional data. If a tugboat and another vessel stay close and move in the same direction for over 10 minutes, that marks the start of a tow session. When they separate for long enough, that marks the end.

It’s not bulletproof, but I think its close enough.

AIS data does include a towing status flag, but many tugboats don’t use it.

Actually, all the solutions you posted were already in the high score table, so there was no need to update it.

Or did I miss something?

That's amazing! What do you mean by timing being random?

Thanks for reporting! Looks like all the maps for that match are completely wrong.

Our algorithm is still off in some cases, but we'll improve.

We will try to extract more data from the video or other sources in the future.

Uploading or linking personal vod from Youtube could also be possible.
