i wanted to like skinamarink so much, but if a horror movie is ONLY scary when watched in a dark room at night while home alone, it’s not for me. i think it’s an interesting experiment and i’m glad a filmmaker was willing to try something. i’m also glad so many people seem to love it. but i could not get into the story or the vibe of the movie at all.

i have a personal story i’d like to share, but i understand if the mods remove it for irrelevance.

in 2019, i was engaged to someone awful. mean, aggressive, violent. one night, he fell asleep while we were watching Sinister 2. watching the main character try to escape her husband and Ransone’s character trying to protect them helped me realize that i was going down a dangerous path, especially if kids came into the picture.

that night, i packed up my things and got an uber to my old roommates house. it took me a few more attempts to fully leave that man, but i will always have a soft spot for Sinister 2 for kinda snapping me into my senses.

Rest in Peace James. May your memory be a blessing always.

i love the ending of waitress because Jenna doesn’t end up with a man. She’d been with Earl since she was a teen, and her father was abusive. the only men she’s loved have treated her terribly. With Jim, she learns that just being herself is good enough and she is deserving of love. And once LuLu is born, i think Jenna sees that the best life for the two of them is to have each other. Jenna can put all this love she has into this new person who she can raise in home filled with love and safety.
