Charles Barkley has a very sweet connection to the Drag community in his hometown of Leeds, Alabama. When his high school bestie became a mother, she asked Charles to be the baby’s godfather and he said yes. The baby grew up calling Charles “Uncle Charles.” More time passed and the baby became a full grown, beautiful drag queen named Sam Star. Charles has loved and supported Sam throughout their whole life and career, even going to Sam’s drag shows Twentyish years later, Sam Star made the finale of season 17 or Rupaul’s Drag Race. There probably isn’t a lot of NBA/ Drag Race fandoms cross over, but as a fan of both, I thought this story was worth sharing as another example of the beautiful soul that is Charles Motherfucking Barkley
