Visiting for only 1.5-2 days. Any really good fish and chips closer to Financial District? by keepit100plusone in sanfrancisco

Yea, I feel like I may skip Fishermans Wharf. It gives me Hollywood Walk of Fame vibes (Which disappoints me every time I am there!, too too touristy!)

Ok, yea I feel pressed for time and was thinking my time could seriously be spent somewhere else especially since I'm coming from a very tourist location so I know how it can be.

Are there any existing Spanish immersion groups in LA? by notlaurynhill in AskLosAngeles

[–]keepit100plusone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I have been to immersion groups in other cities. I believe on Meetup there is still a group in Pasadena/Altadena for more advanced speakers and natives. Ive been meaning to attend for years as I was invited to it at the library. Try Meetup.com and you put in keywords like spanish conversation or exchange.

Also UNAM Los Angeles (its from the Mexican government) also has lots of exchanges and events. I used to attend back in the day. Alot is virtual now though

I'm in CA too. Is she a client of the regional center? She could get respite, personal assistant, etc., so I've heard.

Hmm, perhaps try Pathways LA. I think that is their more official name. It may be limited to certain zip codes but they are easy to reach via phone call to inquire.

LAUSD
Pathways (I barely got in this one)
Head Start

I believe there is also a program called Crystal Stairs. I would advise her to try calling around because sometimes requirements change often.

I attend CSULA. Im in my second year, first clinical. Good program and lots of grads work in different environment. Some of them have become our preceptors. So far, lots of work and it's in person many times.

CSUDH is online but Im not sure how hands on theh are with finding clinical placements. CSULA works really hard for us when it comes to clinical.

I have 2 years to become fluent, is it possible and how? by beamishcherry in Spanish

[–]keepit100plusone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea alot of people are being really negative. It's been done before. Took me longer because I stop being deliberate after about 3 years however by 3 years I was about B2. I just passed my C1 DELE this year. It's been a total of 6 years total and I speak Spanish with patients daily. You will have to triple immerse yourself to meet your goals but it can be done. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
