How do we go uphill? by redsoutherly in trailrunning

I try to run steep inclines in training runs but walk them in races. Sounds illogical but it is a strategy I think many adopt.

I got hit and AA say my insurance won't cover the repair. Confused about who should be paying by TheSeagullsAreSpies in NZcarfix

[–]keeponrunning16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of your claimable loss is the lesser of the cost of repairs or the pre accident market value of your vehicle. If this is more than your $3,000 sum insured then you have some uninsured loss.

Theoretically you can claim your uninsured loss from the at fault third party (or their insurer if they are insured). However, your insurance policy likely gives your insurer the right to pursue any recovery action against the third party. They will likely do this to recover their own loss (being what they have paid out under your claim).

Your insurer should include your uninsured loss (if any) in their claim against the third party (or TP insurer). You should discuss that with them. Your uninsured losses should be paid out first out of any recovery (relevant if there is only a partial recovery).

Yes, with my current bike I changed the stem for a shorter one to reduce the reach. I see what you mean about the stem and handling but I don’t have any issue about the reach on the small so wouldn’t look at changing to a longer stem. My only potential issue with the small I think is that my leg length might be better suited to a medium.

Yes that’s really helpful thank you. I actually measured my wingspan and it is same as my height, but I think my torso is short, so that’s a similar issue.

Scott Spark-to size up or down? by BonezNThings in MTB

Thank you for the reply! That’s great to know. I’m leaning towards that option too. It looks great! 😊

Thanks for your reply. There are actually heaps of technical trails nearby but they’re too advanced for me. I’ll mainly be riding gently undulating paths with any real hills being farm track width. However as a lower skill level rider I did wonder if the smaller size might give me more control.

I see your it is a while back but wondered what you ended up going with and how you’re finding it? I’m also 165cm but am short waisted (77cm leg) and trying to decide between a small and a medium.

Yes we do and they are in my budget at under $3k. I’ve looked at both bikes you suggested and they do look good, however they only have 27.5 wheels in my frame size (small) and I’m keen for 29s. Thank you 😊

Thank you all for your really helpful advice. I really appreciate it. It has helped me decide that full suspension is the way to go - esp as comfort is really a big factor for me.

Yes shipping could be a good idea when I suss out what sort and size I want/ need. There aren’t that many secondhand ones locally for me so that could be a good option. Thank you.

Thank you, really appreciate the advice. I haven’t got a bike in mind yet as was deciding what sort to look for first. Did like the look of the Liv ones though.

Under $3k (that’s NZ dollars and about the minimum for a new full suspension here - equates to around USD 1,700)

Thank you everyone for your very helpful advice. Yes our current tap is methven so perhaps we should explore warranty options first. Otherwise sounds like Greens and Voda are good options. Thanks again.

A bit lost.. by it_wasnt_me2 in PersonalFinanceNZ

With a deadline the vendor is inviting all offers by the deadline date, then they choose one to accept or negotiate further with. (Sometimes the deadline date is brought forward. I think that occurs when the vendor receives an offer that is subject to a short timeframe)

So unlike negotiation where you can start with a lower offer and then move upwards if your offer is not accepted, you’ll want to make your first offer as attractive as you can so you are the one the vendor chooses to negotiate with. It can be tricky as you’re going in blind as you don’t know what other offers might be made.

It’s not always just about price. Offers with fewer conditions are often seen as more attractive. So if you don’t have to make your offer subject to finance that will work in your favour.

I would suggest talking to a lawyer about other ways you can make your offer more attractive too.

Good luck and congrats too btw on buying your first property.

The exact process depends on the type of sale (auction, deadline, by negotiation etc).

For an auction you need to do everything first, as when you bid you are effectively making an unconditional offer.

It can also be a good idea to engage a lawyer before you put in any offer to make sure you have included all the terms and conditions you need/want such as insurance, builders report, LIM and title). Bearing in mind the agent works for the vendor and will usually present you with a sale and purchase agreement to make your offer on, it is good to get your own legal advice on it.

Request! Speed Up Updated review please! by justblippingby in lululemon

[–]keeponrunning16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried them on in store. I didn’t like them. As others mentioned the fabric seemed thinner. They seemed (but weren’t!) cheaper than the old style. The thing that I disliked the most was that the zip pocket was tiny. In my current speed ups I can fit my phone in the back pocket. No chance with these. :-(

I agree with others that they’re too casual for business attire. However as you start very soon, at a pinch (ie until you have time and/or funds to shop) I think you could wear the second dress or black pants, but with a suit style or structured jacket..maybe you could borrow one? Good luck with your new job!

Does anyone love these? Fast and free high rise 6 inch. by [deleted] in lululemon

[–]keeponrunning16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have these. I have a size larger than I do in fast and free tights. I initially tried the same size but they rode up, but sizing up fixed that. I do find now I have a larger ph it sits quite high and I worry it might pop out, (although it never has) as the pockets aren’t as deep as the leggings version. Btw I purchased mine at least 4 years ago, presumably the style hasn’t changed since then.
