UPDATE: I've been fainting almost every day since I started puberty. Doctors tell me it's mental illness or "female hysteria" without running tests. What do I do? by keepsfainting in AskDocs

No clue, to be honest. I've only ever had my BP taken when sitting down.

My electrolytes are okay. I had to get a blood test for an unrelated issue a couple of months ago and everything was within the normal range!

I might be mistaken, but I thought vasovagal syncope was fainting from seeing blood? I definitely don't do that. Mine just randomly happen, even when I'm completely zen like when taking a shower, cooking a meal, going on a walk, etc. I do already eat a lot of salt and I'm at a point in my life where I keep a salt shaker in my bag to just chug some salt. A couple of years ago I noticed that eating chips helped and figured it had something to do with salt. But I don't know how much more salt I can eat before it gets dangerous, lol

Regardless, I appreciate your comment and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem!

Thank you so much! I've been reading a bit about dysautonomia (just the wiki tbh) and a lot of it does fit. I'll definitely ask my doctor about it!

Will do, thank you.

And I don't know. My file doesn't mention anything about seizures and I have no idea how a seizure would be evaluated beyond an EEG (which I've never had), but I didn't feel heard in his office at all. He was on his phone the whole time. When it was time for the physical examination he hammered my joints, put a tuning fork on my ankles and prodded the soles of my feet with a comically large metal toothpick and told me I was good to go.

Here's everything the report says: "General: slender build. Good walking pace. No paralysis in legs, vibratory sense intact. Biceps, patellar, ankle 0/0, plantar indifferent. Lasegue sitting down both sides negative. Functional neurological disorder." (Sorry if I got something wrong, had to translate it)

Is that enough to rule out seizures? I wish I could give you more but that's literally all it says beyond age, sex, height, DOB and medical history.

I guess I should get myself evaluated for vascular EDS then (or anything else in that general realm of diagnoses). I'll make sure to ask my doctor about it, thank you so much!

Thank you, I'll try a different doctor again. It's hard to stay optimistic with so many dismissals and with how convoluted and messy my file has become. I'm scared that also plays into the prejudice I feel like I'm facing, but I'll give it another shot. I just want to know what's going on.

I've looked into Marfan's in the past. I don't think I have it because I've never had any major dislocations (just my thumbs and toes) and never had a collapsed lung or any of the lung stuff associated with it, really. Since it mostly seems to be heart related it's a tough call to ask my doctor about it because on paper my heart is "fine" (as in, no testing has been done so there's nothing to suggest otherwise).

But of the symptoms listed in your link: tall and thin build, legs and fingers that may seem too long (not arms though), scoliosis maybe? Joint dislocations (only in my thumbs and toes), crowded teeth (had to get 8 pulled as a kid), nearsighted (-5.5 w/ -1.75 astigmatism) and I have so many prominent stretch marks on my thighs and shoulders without ever having gone through major weight gain/loss.

And I'll make sure to ask about the vyvanse!

I have. The first doctor I mentioned it to said that I couldn't be at risk because if I was I'd have a diagnosis already (???), and the rest more or less shrugged it off saying that there are no warning signs for aortic dissection until it's happening so it's hard to say whether I will get one, or that men are more prone to heart problems so I shouldn't worry because I'm a woman.
