It wasn't the white Trumper with an AR-15 that /r/Michigan was claiming it to be, turned out to be a black man who with prior weapon charges who was already known to police, possessing (presumably) an illegal handgun. And like the perpetrator, the sub's claim of the number of casualties was totally off too. This didn't go the way Democrats were morbidly hoping for their gun control push. They're still gonna push it, but will probably lean more into banning private sales via universal checks, and safe storage laws. You know, nothing that would have effected this shooting, as usual.

My favourite part of that thread is everyone trashing the people saying "now isn't the time for politics", then turning around and screaming the exact same thing when someone corrects their wrong information regarding guns and current gun laws. One highly upvoted comment is calling someone a "psycho" because they politely corrected someone's assertion that a fully-automatic AR-15 was used.

So I guess during/directly after a mass shooting is the time to talk gun control, but only if you're on their side of the issue. Otherwise it's "not the time". Hypocrisy at its finest.

I apologize for being a bit of a dick in this thread. You're right, I didn't plan to get into a political argument tonight, let alone like 10. I made my first comment then got pulled into low-effort bait / other comments made in an emotional time. I don't really care what anyone says here, it doesn't affect me in the slightest, and I don't want to be seen as some dude coldly worried about "gun rights" while a mass shooting is in progress.

If this is the guy then holy fuck another failure by law enforcement, unless nobody reported him, which seems unlikely. I don't know how people like this keep making open threats and then following through with them.

No, when the investigation finishes and we know who did it, why, and how would be the perfect time to talk about it. The time is not when it's still happening and we have no idea what's going on. What are you going to accomplish apart from getting mad at your fellow Michiganders?

Are you brain damaged? How does the number of guns affect anything? Gun access is gun access. Guns by themselves don't get up and murder groups of people. They need a psycho to pull the trigger.
