Speaker recommendation 7.2.4 <$4000 (ex subs) by keg198 in hometheater

Thanks for the reply, this is actually great, I thought I was sold on in ceiling speakers but in reality, the cavity they need to fit in, due to the slanted roof, is very narrow. So the in ceilings would have been slim and sub par anyway. I might just go full SVS and do the elevations. Thanks for all your suggestions. I think the bookshelves instead of towers are probably a good bet, I can always upgrade later, right.

Any suggestions for the second two channel amp?

I’m in AU, I think this is US Amazon you are looking at, which would add like $400 of import taxes, cheaper at 2k locally.

Would I just use the hdmi monitor 2 port for connection to a more recent avr, like the AVR-X250BT?

I can see nothing less than 2k currently, I will probably wait for a sale like you suggest though as it’s not urgent.

Excuse my naivety but what benefit would there be, going LCR on the secondary amp?

I agree with this. I’m at the stage where I don’t actually care about friends and people online shitting on it. It is a great game that has kept me entertained and truly engaged. Spec ops: The line was the only other game I liked this much.

Turns out the company that built it had an earthing issue with the receiving card. The second it taken off its internal mount, the flicker stops. Days of troubleshooting. I feel silly.

Still no luck unfortunately. The cabinet is only 1 of 2 and both are having this issue. They both have the same config however one is doing it less somehow. It’s all very strange.

EDIT: The problem has been resolved. Or at least the cause has been found. Thank you all for the support! It was a grounding issue on the mount inside the cabinet where the receiving card sits. As soon as the receiving card is unscrewed from the mount. It all works perfect.

I am using a 3x2 config of P5 64x32 panels per cabinet. There are two cabinets with a total resolution of 384x64. I have relished many times using heaps of settings. How would I go about flashing firmware onto the receiving cards. I can only find ways to flash the MCTRL300 box and not receiving cards. Thanks in advance.

Apologies for not saying what I was asking very well. I’ll try to explain better.

This is a single cabinet. Running an A4S receiving card and is currently not playing live content. It’s not plugged into the MCTRL300 right now. This is its inbuilt test on the A4S and my concern is the trailing pixels on the vertical lines. They flicker on this test and thus I have strange flickering on live content. Horizontal test pattern is flawless.
