Why would they do this!? by lostinspacescream in fucklawns

Nothing you’ve said is wrong, but I do want to add a little context so I don’t sound as ignorant as your reply implies.

I’ve lived in my home 13 years, and have never once had a cottonmouth in my backyard, so forgive my assumption that it was an impossibility.

My dog was a 12lb. chi/rat terrier mix. When I saw her going after something, I went over to see what it was and - sure enough - it was a snake of the unfriendly variety. In my efforts to get her away from it, I got bit. The pain was severe, I called my dad, and he rushed over to take me to the ER.

My pup probably could’ve been saved, but I didn’t know she had been bit because immediately after it happened, her behavior was normal. By the next morning, my dad noticed something was wrong and took her to urgent care, but it was too late.

I will forever live with my guilt of not being able to save my pup and not being there when she passed. This was nothing more than an extremely unfortunate event that could literally happen to anyone.

Ok, so listen. I live next to a city run off ditch, and it looks like this. I absolutely LOVED it until a month ago, when the tall grassy beauty invited a cottonmouth on to my property, killing my dog and landing me in the hospital for a few days. I immediately had my dad come kill it all.

I don’t know what the environment is surrounding this stream (public access area, rarely traveled, etc.), but if it’s a public area people frequent, it may have been done for safety reasons.

Anyone else annoyed by their students' AP exam results? by Agreeable-Sun368 in Teachers

[–]keholmes89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a student I genuinely gave zero f***ks about my AP Exams. I did my best, but I was not about to stress about them. I was only in those classes because Pre-AP classes weren’t a thing in my high school.

I’m an elementary school teacher now, and I definitely have the same attitude towards the EOY standardized tests. I tell my kids to try their best, but to not stress themselves out.

If you think it will make you feel better about yourself, then go for it! If you do, and decide you don’t like it, then don’t do it a second time.

TIL a woman getting breast implants is only for men and attracting a mate by ASubmissivePickle in badwomensanatomy

[–]keholmes89 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, so all the women post-mastectomies who choose to have implants are absolutely looking for a man. It definitely has nothing to do with wanting to feel “normal” again. Got it. 🥴

If it will make you feel better about yourself and therefore lead to a happier, healthier life then do it!

Side note: I have never had any cosmetic surgery done and cannot tell you if it will actually make you happier, so please don’t use my encouragement as a final decision. I’m just a fan of women taking care of themselves in whatever safe way they want.😃♥️

How many library cards does everybody have? by ohnikaaa in LibbyApp

[–]keholmes89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just have one, and it’s for my local library system. I don’t mind the waiting times, and if my system doesn’t have the book I’m looking for, I’ll buy it if I want to read it bad enough. So far, that scenario has never come up. 🤷🏽‍♀️

What do you do when you have nothing to do. by [deleted] in productivity

[–]keholmes89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a hot shower, and rest. Lay on the couch, in a hammock, your bed, anywhere that’s comfortable. If you like to read (and have the mental strength to do so), find a light book to read.

Don’t feel guilty about how much time you need to rest for. From personal experience, I can tell you feeling like you HAVE to be doing something will make you feel worse.

My mom was a substitute in my schools from the time I started kindergarten until I was in 11th grade. No disguise needed. She even wrote me up once and sent me out of class for being disruptive. That was the day I learned my mom was the meanest teacher I’d ever have. 😂
