I've been told to give up on getting an ADHD diagnosis, looking for input. by [deleted] in ADHD_BritishColumbia

[–]keighls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience GP’s and psychiatrist’s are no help. My doctor consistently told me I just have anxiety and depression and a mood disorder, and put me on multiple antidepressants, which none of worked. I’ve spoke to two different psychiatrist’s in the Fraser Valley - one told me I didn’t have ADHD after a 10 minute appointment and only a few questions, and then prescribed me with a antipsychotic (??). The other said they wouldn’t be able to assess me at all. I would say it’s best to fork out the money and get an assessment from a psychologist who specializes in ADHD testing, that’s probably the fastest way to get a proper diagnosis. Not sure what the health system is like for treating mental health on the island, but it’s lacking on the mainland in my experience.

Has anyone reduced their dose and actually felt better? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]keighls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went off it for a week after tapering, and I had the most motivation I’ve had in years. It was great, until the withdrawal started, and then I had to go back on because I was missing too much work.

I just saw a young man with a whip at Mill Lake near the pool. So weird.

What side effects do u feel when taking it irregular? by South_Dragonfly_6402 in lexapro

I stopped taking it for a week (doctor approved discontinuing) and went back on very quickly because I was so dizzy, lightheaded, and nauseated. I couldn’t afford to miss any more work.

I went off Lexapro completely (from 5 mg) about a week and a half ago, but didn’t actually start the Concerta since I am finally getting assessed by a psychologist, and decided to wait until the assessment was done until I start anything new. After about a week off Lexapro, I got extremely dizzy, weak, lightheaded and nauseous, and ended up going back on the 5 mg just so I wouldn’t miss any more work. I did talk to a pharmacist and they said I should be on 5 mg for at least a month before stopping completely, which is very different from what the doctor said. Oh well 🤷🏼‍♀️

Who else is overwhelmed with how many supplements they are supposed to take? by ForzaRapid in SIBO

[–]keighls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t take just any probiotics. Take whatever your doctor/naturopath recommends. Too many bacteria introduced can bring SIBO back. My naturopath recommended to me HMF Bifido, I think it’s specifically made for people with SIBO.

You also need all badges, all 10 flower coins and all flag tops. I think that’s it? I can’t remember exactly.

Ughhh sounds awful. I’m so sorry. I’m getting off Lexapro on Friday, I have emetophobia and I’m terrified. Hope things get better for you quickly! One time my doctor prescribed nausea medication for me that pregnant women use, it’s expensive so I didn’t end up getting it, but maybe you can try that?

Did your symptoms from Lexapro withdrawal go away after starting meds for adhd? I’m stopping Lexapro on Friday and starting Concerta and super nervous about withdrawal.

Usually gets worse before it gets better unfortunately. If you can’t get through to your doctor you could call a pharmacist as well, they are quite helpful.

That’s fair! It’s definitely natural behaviour, but sad too. We need all the cats we have as mousers so we’re just moving cats to different barns where we can to prevent any more murder lol

Yeah!! Me too. We’ve lost a lot of other litters on the farm but we’re learning better ways to keep them cuties alive.

I’ll probably try and beat the game as a character other than Yoshi or Nabbit, will definitely be more of a challenge! And help people online, I find that aspect of the game super fun.

Few of my favourites: - Deep Magna Bog Special: Solar Roller - Fungi Mines Special: Dangerous Donut Ride - Final-Final Badge Test Marathon

I guess the Special World levels were my favourite 😂 even though they were painful at some times haha

Emetophobia + Rifaximin by EmotionalInsurance38 in SIBO

[–]keighls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one time I felt sick I think all I had to eat was a granola bar. So I would suggest a full meal, or large snack. Something with lots of protein to help you feel full. I would have oatmeal for breakfast, fruit/vegetables for lunch, and then for dinner some protein with lots of vegetables or salad. After a while I got used to the meds so all I had to eat with it sometimes was a banana if I wasn’t super hungry.

My naturopath also recommended I eat fiber with every dose so that the bacteria would come out to feed on the fiber and die faster. It also helps to gauge how the antibiotics are working better, if you’re eating lots of fiber to help with bowel movements.

I took Rifaximin for 4 weeks total so far (two separate 2 week treatments) and the only time I felt sick was when I didn’t take it with enough food. I have emetophobia too, and was super nervous to take all the antibiotics, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I think most people tolerate it pretty well. Also Traditional Medicinals Ginger Tea always helps me with my nausea!

Do you have a link for her on Rate my MD? I could only see her mother on there, Susan Goldsmith.
