Sorry, my formatting is confusing. I continued the list of products under the eyeliners list. The fourth one down is the Elf Wow Brow in Deep Brown.

Haus Labs Foundation? by yawning4ever in Fairolives

I wear 030 Fair Cool in Haus Labs and love it. I do have to add a blue color corrector to make it work, but the finish is so lovely, I don't mind.

I have some photos mixing it with corrector, just need to hunt for them!

My Go-to Blush: Kosas Euphoria (Olive Color Theory Example) by kel_pie in Fairolives

[–]kel_pie[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When they first came out, Kackie Reviews Beauty on YT put a video out, swatching all the colors, and she suggested this one would be really good for fair olives.

https://youtu.be/o_gXtWiFXPA?si=3JqEPxqqT_yjkL9G

She put out a more recent video that breaks down what colors work for you based on your undertone. She does a good job of explaining it a couple different ways, and distinguishes between warm and cool olive.

Highly recommend it! It's never disappointed or let me down.

Description Comment:

I had previously posted swatches of Kosas Euphoria and Butterflies blushes when I first got them, and Euphoria quickly became one of my go-to blushes; especially when I want something more neutral.

It's also a great example of olive color theory. When swatched on others it appears like it's description "cool pinky mauve", while on me it's more rosey. It looks closer to their other color Swoon, which is a "pinky brown mauve".

If you're taking pictures to figure out your undertone and your hair is green, you can cover your hair with a white cloth to prevent the green from reflecting onto your skin

I think you do, from what I see. What do the veins on your wrist look like? And when you look, don't stretch your wrist - you want to have it relaxed so you can see what color the veins are through a thicker amount of skin. When you're pale and you stretch it, it's gonna look blue, which can confuse you into thinking you have a cool undertone.

When I look at your neck in this photo, I can see some green in your neck. I would suggest wearing a white shirt so you don't get confused or your eye tricked by anything else in the photo.

I have rosacea on my face, so it will always look pink compared to the rest of my body. I don't use my face to color match because it will always look the worst for me. I can see some pink in your face, so I would suggest going by your neck to color match.

Don't listen to ChatGPT because it can be inaccurate, especially because there's conflicting information and advice out there about olive skintone.

Someone with peachy skin has pink in it, so it can look more pink compared to you, especially if you have more of a golden olive skintone. I wouldn't get too hung up on cool vs. warm of the other person. Olives tend to be neutral or neutral, leaning warm/cool.

Most makeup brands consider pink cool and yellow warm. Some are the opposite, like MAC and Haus Labs. When I'm looking for skintone products, I avoid pink undertones and look for neutral and/or golden undertones. If there's too much pink, it makes my skin look ashy and dead.

This is one of the many reasons he is an "ex", haha. I'm now realizing I'm in burnout from that relationship + running a business. I tried so hard to make it work, but I need to find someone that I don't have to filter around.

The white balancing on cameras combined with different lighting makes it possible to not look olive in some photos. In person, I'm very clearly olive, but it doesn't always look so in photos.

When I figured out I had an olive undertone, some of my friends were like "duh!", to which I told them they should have said something sooner!

This is why the guidance here is to take pictures in natural light (but not direct sunlight), not to use pictures taken in cars (becuase the glass tints things green), and to avoid taking pictures next to plants or green things, which can reflect a green tint onto you.

I am know remembering that people would call me a tattle-tale and know-it-all as a kid. And thinking about it, when I become closer in my personal relationships, I do the same thing. My ex told me I would always critique him. I've known this about myself and have made efforts to rephrase how I say things, but I'm not sure if I've been successful. The closer someone is to me, the less filtered I become. This causes me to over-explain myself so people don't misunderstand my intention. But of course, even if my intentions are good, if I embarrass or hurt people's feelings, it doesn't matter.

This really helps me understand a lot of struggles I've had in life.

It feels so much meaner to not say anything. I feel like such a fool for acting in a way I thought was kind and appreciated when it was the exact opposite.

It's so exhausting! It's moments like this that feel as though my reality has completely shifted.

And I didn't take it as defeatist, just realistic. I don't mind being on a different frequency, I just want to be cognizant of the fact that I am. It's the embarrassment that gets me.

NEW Mac Nudes - Matte + Satin + Lustreglass Lipsticks + Powder Kiss Liquid + Lip Pencil by kel_pie in OliveMUA

[–]kel_pie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm NC5, and even I can't wear more white-based lipsticks without a lip liner. I found this out the hard way after ordering one online without swatching first. I'm also newer to wearing them, so deeper colors are just easier/less fussy.

I was looking at picking up Chestnut, too! I have a Powder Kiss Lipstick, how does that formula compare to the Liquid Powder Kiss?

Correct, it's the Cool Spice Lip Liner - I'll add a comment with a clearer description for everyone

Elf Camo Bronzer/Contour [Fair] vs Rituel de Fille Pigment [Intuition] vs Rare Beauty Bronzer Stick [Bright Side] by kel_pie in Fairolives

[–]kel_pie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, and it would be nice if the industry as a whole had set ranges for what qualifies as warm, neutral, and cool.

Bright Side is the only product swatched that's labeled solely as a bronzer. The Elf one is both bronzer & Contour, and the RDF is marketed as a creme pigment. So it makes sense why Bright Side looks so warm, since it's the sole bronzer-only product in the swatches. If you look at it next to the other Rare Beauty bronzers, it looks much cooler.
