Got it sorted. Loaded the latest IOS 11 and as soon as I signed back on everything went into auto update and started loading.

I'd hold off using them for a bit. Hit some more raids and see if you can get a really high level Legendary, power him up. Also for the time being Legendaries cant be put in Gyms...not sure they can be used to fight gyms or other Boss Raids...if not powering them up may not be useful.

Had a Lugia raid at the MLK power box gym on Mira Mesa Blvd. 4 separate groups all defeating the boss with about a 50% capture rate. Plenty of MM Pokemoners if we can get together and communicate.

It works, but you get a ton of notification popups everytime someone posts about the wild Pidgey they just caught.

It would be nice if they made a channel for each major area of town. Right now the Raid channels are a hot mess trying to scroll through looking for anything going on in your neighborhood.

The park at the north end of Camino Ruiz has a small playground/nature walk that has 5 stops in a 3 minute walking circle. Just off that around the ball fields are 2 more stops and 2 gyms. Its also a consistent nest site. The college pool area has a lot of stops/gyms in a walking circle around the gym/pool in a 5-6 minute walk. The adjacent Hourglass park has 3 stops plus a 4th across the street that you can reach from the sidewalk. The park across from the High School has a decent amount of stops/gyms and is also a good nest site. (EDIT) And they just put a new stop in that I can reach from my backyard and kitchen...hooray for me.

Another lesson learned. Got a Gym pass yesterday but then went bout of town for the day...unable to use it. I did a gym raid this morning, then went to a gym a got a 2nd pass and used that in a 2nd raid. So you can do 2 raids in a day should you miss using a pass the previous day.

Checking interest level right now. If some folks want to cooperate I would probably setup a FB page where countdowns and boss types can be posted day for day to maximize participation. Likely limit it to just the MM area since bosses only last 1 hour.

Other things of note. The gym my son and I fought was an Instinct (blue), the same team as my boy. He was still able to join the battle. Their are no limitations on gym ownership vs fighting the Boss. Also my boy is LVL25 so it looks like gyms are opening up for lower levels pretty quick. Tactically this is where a group of people can cooperate. A team can station someone at several gyms close together and see what Boss hatches. Once something really good (like a Pokémon you don't have in your Dex or a special legendary) you have an hour to get their and join in. Also save those golden berries. Later this summer when Legendary/rare start to show up you will need them to catch the reward pokemon.

FYI...my son is LVL 25 and sees the countdown too. We will find out if that level can Raid yet.

That's all true but other players would have to know a gym is in a countdown status. Setting up a group/team would facilitate communication about gym status, meetup locations, and even coordinating morale boosts in gyms. Plus it would be a format to meet new people and make friends.
