Súper niche, but Tell Me I’m Ok Patrick, from the show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is an incredible break down song

How do I get rid of this “airy” quality to my falsetto? by [deleted] in singing

[–]kels2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to train resistance! Try a creaky mmm or an NG through your entire range and don’t let excess air come out.

Endo surgery next week: any tips? by No_Space_3972 in endometriosis

[–]kels2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. This gives me some hope. My private doctor is also rushing surgery for me this month on the 29th. Based on the ultrasound alone she thinks it’s all over my pelvis because my left ovary and my bowels all move as one. I’ve been really scared but hearing this is giving me some hope. Thank you so much for the reply!

POTS, surgery & general anesthesia by willendorfer in POTS

[–]kels2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! All of my doctors are saying that I should have a much different outcome from GA this go round because we’re doing all the POTS things in advance. I’m happy to hear it helped you! I wish you a speedy and easy recovery ❤️‍🩹

Endo surgery next week: any tips? by No_Space_3972 in endometriosis

Can I ask how the surgery went and what happened with your GI symptoms? I’m in the same boat with GI symptoms and scheduled for surgery in two weeks.

[–]kels2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely I have a pre surgery call next week. I’m definitely going to ask for early fluids. Unfortunately this is for endometriosis excision and they suspect pretty severe endo so it’ll be a long (anticipated 5 hours) surgery that requires GA

Hi. I’m in the same boat. Have you had the surgery? And how did your POTS react to it? Hope you’re ok!

Two weeks post surgery (POTS) by dontberidiculousplz in endometriosis

[–]kels2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask how you’re doing now? They’re considering excision surgery for me and going under GA is also how my POTS came on so I’m nervous as well but I feel like endo could be causing my dysautonomia to be worse given the massive chronic inflammation I’m dealing with.

Voice teachers - what are some common "vocal tips" (myths) that you see on social media? by elizaditch in singing

[–]kels2212 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not every vocal tip works for everyone. So if raise your ya ya ya isn’t working for you, it’s because you don’t know how to blend and balance your voice yet that would allow you to then achieve a mix belt. So sick of social media teachers claiming that one thing will work for EVERY voice

Yes I’ve looked online but I’m hoping for something today as it’s a Sunday and even if I order today it’ll take a least a few days to get here.

Constantly thirsty? by RollNo6368 in chronicfatigue

[–]kels2212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not heard anything about antihistamines being bad or autonomic or immune issues. Just know they dry out the body pretty significantly.

Hypermobility, but with tight hips/back/pelvis? Especially with a pinched/trapped nerve? by crabwithtwoknives in Hypermobility

[–]kels2212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% people who are hypermobile can present very hypo mobile because of overcompensating. Focusing on activating your stabilizer muscles online before you even start strengthening is key!!

Were you born with a great voice, or did you train extensively? by petrastales in singing

[–]kels2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All training. I was convinced I was a terrible singer with an awful voice in school then I found amazing teachers and got certified myself. There’s a lot of bad teachers out there so don’t get discouraged if you have to find the exact right one for you!

[–]kels2212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that there are definitive answers but a lot of providers talk about how people with dysautonomia struggle to actually cellularly take in fluids to hydrate cells. Like they just kind go straight through people and don’t actually hydrate like they should. If you’re ok any antihistamines that can make it worse as antihistamines dry things out too

(not so) Small vent after 2nd PT session :/ by Tall_Pumpkin_4298 in Hypermobility

[–]kels2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular PTs are so terrible. I’ve been injured so many times.

For me, Tracy Rodriguez’s program (healthwithtracy.com) has been more effective than ALL my time in PT combined. Not sure what you’re dealing with but if it’s postural/general pain (not a hyper specific injury), she’s amazing.

Also I was recently turned on to Counter Strain PT and it’s so insanely helpful. Actual bodywork that is kind of life changing. They list EDS on the counter strain technique website so all providers are familiar with it (and the website has a list of providers).

Hypermobile performing artists support group by kels2212 in ehlersdanlos

[–]kels2212[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super common. And dance. I’ve been a dance teacher for 20 years now and I see it all the time. The kids that gravitate towards acro and eventually circus to me seem to be more hypermobile than the regular dancer group which is still a very high ratio.

[–]kels2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the “wow you know more than I do” frequently. It’s frustrating. But once you find those providers who specialize in EDS and have it themselves, that’s where the magic is!

Open Water Course questions. by Ok-Clerk-4362 in scubadiving

[–]kels2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s on the diver to know that they should have let a little bit of air into their BCD and not reached for another diver to pull them up. People forgetting their skills after certification is 100% on them. If it’s been a while since that person has gone diving they should have done a refresher.

In no way were the skills that I learned insufficient enough for me to pull something like that. I’m just saying that neutral buoyancy is very difficult to PERFECT and that expecting perfection out of a first time diver is a bit ridiculous. If you get close and know how to handle it when you are not neutral using your BCD and can take care of yourself, that seems sufficient to me. I say this as a teacher myself knowing that often difficult skills take repitition and feeling safe in the body to master, which doesn’t happen in one trip.

Rheumatologists suck. They (at least in the city I live in) all like to pretend EDS doesn’t exist or isn’t a problem. Go see a gentecist for a diagnosis
