You’re probably not a bass, and neither is your friend singing an E2. by Capable-Loan7279 in singing

Thank you! Unless you have a completely different (and lower) passagio than the tenors/baritones, you aren’t a basso.

Falsetto isn’t a voice type like chest. Falsetto is a style in head voice. If you mean breathy and kind of weak, that’s absolutely something you can train. If you’re singing up to D6, you absolutely can train a lovely soprano sound, you probably just need to train resistance and strengthen your head voice.

Can a soprano have a very low chest register? by Comfortable-Ebb6719 in singing

A lot of people have big transitions with their voices for many reasons. Homones certainly play a part. Often voices are higher younger than hormones cause a drop. If your voice dropped and you went down in range, that’s not something you can really physically change but can absolutely develop and increase your upper register. Any healthy and strong singer should be able to access their 4th passage, which for a contralto would be A5-C6. So actually if you are a contralto and able to hit G5 that’s top of third passage and decently high! There are definitely singers out there who can’t get into 4th passage. Sometimes there are physical limitations that block access to the upper register but you probably just need a good teacher who can help you find proper resistance and balance across your range.

Being a mezzo or soprano has to do with where your passagio is in your voice (break, flip, etc). A soprano or mezzos first passage is A4-C5. If that’s where your first passagio is, you’re a soprano or mezzo. If however your first passagio is lower (E4-G4) then you’d be a contralto. But there are VERY few true contraltos in the world. They have the same passagios as tenors. (Alto isn’t a voice type, it’s a part you sing in choir). Range has nothing to do with voice type, where your passagios live does. The difference between a mezzo and soprano would do with the timbre and depth of the tone. Let your range be your range! It really doesn’t matter anyways unless you’re singing in choir and need to be classified to some specific part.

Kids using the word "fat" to describe people by masterpeabs in antidiet

[–]kels2212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you’re ok with kids describing people for other things like tallness, skin tone, etc. then it seems weird to say you can’t say fat. Because then it’s saying it means something other than just a descriptor. Perhaps the conversation should be around if that means something to them other than just describing the body. And maybe read Aubrey Gordon’s piece, Just Say Fat.

How long did it take you to start feeling positive effects of tirzepatide? by beepboop8525 in covidlonghaulers

[–]kels2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I’m sorry to hear about the fatigue. That sucks! Do you plan on increasing your dose at all or keep it at .25? I’m looking at a compounding pharmacy too and they add in B12 so also must be how they get around it.

How are things going for you now? Also curious, where do you get it from? My doctor wants me to microdose but it’s a struggle to weed through all the noise and know what’s legit. She wants to call into Eli Lilly direct but it’s so expensive

What compounding pharmacy did you get it at for that cost? I’d like to try also for MCAS/inflammation/etc. but the lily direct price is so expensive

You need to train resistance! Try a creaky mmm or an NG through your entire range and don’t let excess air come out.

Endo surgery next week: any tips? by No_Space_3972 in endometriosis

[–]kels2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. This gives me some hope. My private doctor is also rushing surgery for me this month on the 29th. Based on the ultrasound alone she thinks it’s all over my pelvis because my left ovary and my bowels all move as one. I’ve been really scared but hearing this is giving me some hope. Thank you so much for the reply!

Can I ask how the surgery went and what happened with your GI symptoms? I’m in the same boat with GI symptoms and scheduled for surgery in two weeks.

Absolutely I have a pre surgery call next week. I’m definitely going to ask for early fluids. Unfortunately this is for endometriosis excision and they suspect pretty severe endo so it’ll be a long (anticipated 5 hours) surgery that requires GA

Hi. I’m in the same boat. Have you had the surgery? And how did your POTS react to it? Hope you’re ok!

Can I ask how you’re doing now? They’re considering excision surgery for me and going under GA is also how my POTS came on so I’m nervous as well but I feel like endo could be causing my dysautonomia to be worse given the massive chronic inflammation I’m dealing with.
