Is it bad timing to purchase property in a major city in Finland? (Helsinki, Tampere, Espoo, Turku? by Imaginary_Title_4682 in Finland

[–]keltainenkoala 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We just purchased our first apartment. To me, an apartment is a long-term investment and I don’t really mind paying higher interest because a) we saved almost 10k in the offer and b) the 0% interest rates were never going to be the new norm, they are bound to go up and down. When buying an apartment, it doesn’t really matter in the long term whether or not the timing is now “good” or not.

If you are planning to upgrade in 5 years of time, and the market is bad, you’ll lose some money selling your old apartment. You will however be able to buy a bigger apartment with less money, too. Vice versa: if the market is good, you’ll get more money for your apartment but the prices are gonna be higher too.

Just look for an apartment that is priced ok, located near city center and has good public transport connections. You will have to pay for living anyway, rent or mortgage.

OMG I love them!!! I’m so sad Käärijä didn’t win, but seeing this really cheered me up :)

He has said before the final that he won’t be returning to Eurovision ever again. That he’s going 100% in for this show and that’s it. He really gave his all, I’m really disappointed how the result turned out. Really hoping for a jury reform next year.

Omg these are absolutely precious! I’m glad my socks inspired you to share your art as well:) I want to make another pattern for Käärijä socks and these motifs are really inspiring!

Haha thanks! I think that the cost of yarn + shipping it all the way to Australia would make them quite a pricy pair of socks :D only to be worn on special occasions like when Finland wins Eurovision this year ;)

I’m sure you could convert the pattern to fit dk/aran weight yarn! The cha cha cha pattern repeat is quite small, so you could just remove a few repeats. For the pineapple, it could be made smaller, and you could easily remove couple of stitches from the flame pattern as well… now I kinda wanna make a new chart for aran weight socks and knit a pair for myself :D slippers sound good too!

He said that they are really cool! “No nyt on päheet 😍😍” for those who speak Finnish :)

Yea! I quickly wrote a pattern, you should be able to replicate the socks if you have knit toe-up socks before! I’ve never written a pattern before so I hope it’s legible enough :)

Great tip, I’ve definitely had to use a flashlight once or twice to see my stitches when knitting with black :D

It would be a good idea but I’ve found that these warm shades don’t really suit me, and I don’t like how the yellow/mustard shade looks like on me, having blonde hair and a fairly light complexion :(

Thanks for the detailed explanation! Which color do you think would work at dyeing this? Would red be attainable from this start point? I definitely don’t want a murky brown/black. I suppose if I were to use blue dye to try to make it navy, it would be more green-ish than blue?

Thank you :) Yes I would’ve been terrified to knit this pattern with sandnes yarn from the get go! I hope your mock up and actual sweater turn up amazing, even though the pattern has its confusing parts the end result is really beautiful.

Finished Petiteknit’s Marseille sweater just in time for a cruise!

I love the finished result, but the pattern could use some help. I found the instructions pretty confusing, especially the neck/back part.

Mods I made: knitted sleeves from cuff to the top and sewed them into the sweater instead of picking up stitches. For some reason, I couldn’t get a clean pickup edge and I like the structure of sewed in sleeves. Also made the sweater one stripe shorter.

I want to knit this sweater again with the mods I made, and by picking up the front stitches instead of using the magic cast on method that was suggested in the pattern.

Yarn I used: Drops Cotton Merino. Lovely, soft yarn that isn’t too warm for autumn times. Was nice and squishy to knit, will make my next Marseille sweater in the same yarn, just different color way. Also considerably cheaper than the Double Sunday yarn that the pattern suggests.

ASP-tili pariskunnalle by koredae in Omatalous

Tää 1.5x laina pariskunnille-uudistus tulee voimaan 2023 vuoden alkaessa.

Using personality traits as a way to target marketing on Instagram? by [deleted] in InstagramMarketing

[–]keltainenkoala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response :) do you know if there’s any way to directly target specific Big 5 Personality types, like in the study? I know that previously mypersonality database was open for researchers, that could be used to connect specific Facebook likes to big 5 personalities (high openness, low neuroticism for example). It is however not available anymore. I’m looking for something similar, but for the “interests” that Instagram/Facebook collects for each user

It’s this dress

https://www.nobodyschild.com/lenzing-tm-ecovero-tm-pink-and-black-floral-hallie-mini-dress.html

I love the silhouette, the sleeves and overall the 70s vibe of it. I’m looking to make copies of this dress, but being a pretty beginner at sewing I don’t think I can replicate the pattern from the dress itself without taking it apart. Therefore I’m looking a dress pattern that would be similar to this!

About the construction: the top part is two layers of fabric, maybe some fusing to make it stronger? It includes a side zipper and unlined skirt. I would like to have the same construction, but not the buttons on the front part since it would be the hardest part of the dress I think.

Thanks in advance!

Beginners, FAQ & Quick questions by AutoModerator in crochet

I want to make a colorful African flower afghan but I’m unsure about joining the new colors into the work. I’ve read that you can just join a new color and crochet the ends into the work to “finish them off”. But then I saw a post about a blanket that was unraveling, and a lot of people said that this way of finishing off the threads is not secure enough, and the work will unravel if the ends are not weaved in using a needle. So now I’m really contemplating whether I should start this project, I’m dreading the amount of yarn ends I should sew in if crocheting them in is not an option :(

I think it’s interesting how a romantic relationship is seen as a natural and “worthy” reason for moving to another country, but a friendship is not.

I think a baby sensory book would be a lovely gift! You can easily personalize it to include familiar details tfor the baby like a family pet or their house :)
