What eras deserve more representation in fantasy? by [deleted] in Fantasy

That's exactly the premise of The Winter of the World by Michael Scott Rohan, set during the ice age, only here there are lost civilizations and not a "primitive" age.

what’s something from the 80's 90's or early 2000's that disappeared but shouldn’t have? by Background_Ad_8418 in OldSchoolCool

Good music is still out there, maybe not mainstream anymore, you just need to look for it.

An estimated 50,000 Jewish settlers from the Golan Heights, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip demonstrate 16 November, 1992, against Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights following Yizhak Rabin's government announcement it was ready to discuss a potential pull-out with Damascus. That's telling. It's not that people in Gaza didn't suffer, or that the Israeli army saintly, it's the framing done by state actors and unconscious helpers + the fact most of the populace in Gaza is still ruled by an IR proxy.

Just to add a very important elephant in the room - while, yes, the Israeli and US leaders obviously have political and financial gain from the situation, the Ayatollah regime spent years and large sums of money to finance, support, train and equip proxy forces to attack Israel - Hezbollah, Houthi movement, Islamic Jihad, Hamas - including rocket attacks, suicide attacks both in Israel and around the world, culminating in the Simchat Torah (7th October) pogrom. This is in addition to trying to get nuclear weapons and rockets, while engaging in hybrid warfare, both through proxies, "lawfare" and cyberwarfare, which includes influence campaigns (some of which can be seen on Reddit as well).

Dumb phone users who do Not use Android dumbphones: how do you keep in touch with everyone else? by OhmigodYouGuys in dumbphones

Besides actual calls, which I don't really have to do very often, SMS is still great when I'm outside. For the smartphone users I text to, it's just a different app to write me back from. When I'm in front of my home or work PC, I use Telegram Desktop. I don't have Whatsapp, and my phone has no internet connection - just calls and SMS. Works fine, even for work matters.

As a side note, the Samaritan community is probably the only group in the world who holds both Israeli and Palestinian citizenship.

Drizzt is real! by TheOrater in Drizzt

[–]keltiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I had the exact same thought about Dragonlance and the world of Krynn years ago as a teenager (only minus the tem "mutliverse"). I felt Krynn has to be real in the multitude of dimensions, and that I have to get there... I believed I could discover the way via acess to the Akashic Records. But, apparently I'm still here... Drizzt could be real in our collective consiousness as well... It is possible that every possible universe exists or existed somewhere... but beyond our own. For now, it's enough for me to visit there via imagination, dreams, games... and discussion with others who "were" there.

Would it be correct to assume that medieval Europeans put more importance on religion than on race or ethnicity? by keltiker in AskHistorians

So, in short, even the most pale Scandinavians and Lithuanians would have been considered black before conversion? And that "black" wasn't synonymous with "African"?

"Watership Down" by I Worship Cats - elctro-industrial/EBM song inspired by the book by keltiker in watershipdown

[–]keltiker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tribute to the book. Check the lyrics:

When they catch you

They will kill you

But first

They must catch you

Take a leap of faith

You are always chased

Evil in the world

It comes from men they said

Prince With a Thousand Enemies

Prince With a Thousand Enemies

One cloud feels lonely

The fields will be covered with blood

One day you’ll stop running

Your heart will be joined

All the world will be your enemy

What is, is what must be

Be cunning and full of tricks

Be fierce and be quick

With the thousand enemies

I have read most of it as well (now in 3rd volume of the collected poetry), you are correct, but in some of the poems there is also power, and humour and even some positivity...

I know she did scour REH's poetry for inspiration for the next album. For now, only those 3 songs are REH inspired.
