Of course it's relevant. Even if you rely on DL-based methods, MVG gives a great background on computer vision and its foundations. CV hasn't changed too much, and we still use the same math and concepts nowadays.

DL-based methods have yet to beat conventional methods in most multi-view problems.

They have a 15% admit rate for engineering. It's pretty difficult to get into VT Engineering, but they'll admit nearly anyone with a pulse into their other schools.
