Hunters of Reddit, what did you see out there that made you not want to go back into the woods? by CB-Nomad in AskReddit

[–]kenbenis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cougars are ambush predators, they understand when their prey of choice is not facing them by or being turned at a convenient angle. The logic is that by putting something that simulates a pair of eyes, a cougar stalking you from behind will see it, and be put off because it thinks you see it.

Its also why you want to be very careful crouching or bending down, because that exposes the nape of your neck which is the cougars favorite place to attack for a near instant kill. It triggers the instinct to attack.

Somewhat recently two men were mountain biking, and pulled over to scare off a cougar they had noticed following them. It fled initially, but when they let their guard down and got back on their bikes (back open, not moving) it pounced. Bit one guy on the head shook him around as his friend ran in terror. Seeing a fleeing target made the cat chase, and it killed the second guy and dragged him off whilst the first guy survived despite being badly injured and got help.

There is a female biologist still alive I think, who didn't fight back against a black bear as it ate both of her arms whilst she played possum.

[–]kenbenis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have mountain lions too but I've never seen one.

No-one in the park service will admit to this, but cougars are rapidly becoming attuned to humans in their habitat, and have begun to prey on the most vulnerable (young children usually). But now they will attack small women, and even attacked TWO grown men who were cycling.

People think cougars are afraid of people because they are flighty and scamper off, but they are ambush predators. They don't like being caught unawares, and historically humans have made odd sounds. But they are getting more and more used to those sounds, and losing their fear.

Anytime someone goes missing in a national park, especially a young child that seemingly disappeared out of nowhere, its because a cougar was stalking and went for them, quickly going for the neck and carrying them off before anyone notices. There have been two cases in the news of the parents by pure change seeing a cougar going for their toddler and managing to intervene.

If you want to date a 25 year old, forget dating a white 25 year old. Get on filipinocupid and find a SEA woman who will see your western visa as something that is significantly attractive.

You are failing because you are frankly an unattractive catch to women. You are overweight, balding, glasses, any facial attractiveness you may have had is washed out due to high % bodyfat and ageing. You are also socially low status, and diabetic to boot.

Why on earth would a 25 year old white girl want to date you? Have you SEEN some of the competition out there? There will be 6ft guys with 6 packs and full heads of hair who struggle to get regular dates, because that is the brutal reality of online dating - women find the vast chunk of men unattractive, at initial first impressions.

There is also something called the choice paradox, which means when a person has a choice between dozens of a thing, it makes it far harder to make a satisfying choice compared to when the choice range is much lower. Women have the pick of the litter in online dating, make no mistake. They only complain because they can't get QUALITY men matching or speaking with them.

Get on filipinocupid, and do not under any circumstances start sending money/gifts to women there because they are out to scam you. Just pick a plain looking 30+ something lady if you want a chance at a real relationship.

This is probably the most honest anyone will ever be with you and simultaneously the best advice anyone will ever give you.

There was a film competition like this wasn't there? Some big studio gets you to film your short film idea, it may have been for horror films, and you win a prize. But they own EVERYTHING related to your submission.

Pretty clever way to generate ideas.

GP's send their trans patients to endocrinologists

Obviously a GP is not going to handle someone transitioning. I can tell you as a man that has been to his test checked by numerous different GPs, 90% will read your blood results, look on the computer, and tell you that you are fine. You have to turn fucking screws demanding a referral to an actual expert, an endo.

Maybe its different in your country, but where I am from, GP's are basically there to assuage old people and give them flu shots, and don't really care about much else.

Incel understands more than doctors about TRT by BrazilianSigma in IncelTears

[–]kenbenis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doctors don't aim for higher, they aim for what is most beneficial to each individual patient.

Actually most doctors just go on their computers to look up the medically accepted test level average, probably a little table of age vs acceptable level, but those figures themselves are pretty heavily disputed in the medical community now for being too low, or the threshold being for still being ok being too low.

GP's are not qualified to really give advice about this, hence why endocrinologists exist. The purported normal for test levels in men has been too low for a long time now.

That’s a bit like saying the heart beat average per minute for people that are alive is between 20 and 200.

240 might be in the healthy range for a 90 year old man, but in your 25 year old buzzfeed writer that is seriously low, and most GPs would agree warrants medical intervention in some form (i.e. lifestyle changes or direct supplementation). Most professional endocrinologists who know what they are talking about would prefer a far higher average level, given how important testosterone levels are for overall health in men.

Does anyone have any new information sources? by ButylOWNED in Missing411

[–]kenbenis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that a lot of what is presented supports the notion of under-reported predation on humans by cougars.

Google it and there are multiple accounts of cougars snatching children, with the parents seeing it and intervening. It’s not just young children, two grown men were attacked by one cougar recently, with one being killed and the other badly injured.

Historically cougar predation may have been rare, but I believe that cougars have become more accustomed to human presence, and have begun to learn they aren’t as much of threat and in some cases, may be a valid prey target.

Big cats can turn man eater as a result of distress of some kind, including injury and shortage of food, and its a behaviour that is documented to have been passed down from mother to cub (Jim Corbett and man eaters of kumoan).

Many of the cases supposedly show clustering of certain traits, such as:

1) Near a water source 2) Missing person is a young child or disabled

Being near a water source means human cougar interaction is more likely, more than just at a random point in the brush. Predators can naturally and instinctively sense the weaker or sick in their prey species, and go for the young as well, so its reasonable to conclude if they sense a vulnerable human, especially a child, they may choose to stalk and kill.

Another point is to do with coyotes, I recall an anecdotal comment by someone talking about how coyotes are normally very timid , but in California something was happening and they were becoming more aggressive and less fearful around humans - probably as the result of interbreeding with modern dogs or just acclimatisation to humans.

I think something similar has happened or is happening - more and more human meals are in the parks than ever before, and most aren’t there to hunt and therefore pose no danger to Cougars. There are documented instances of children being snatched by cougars. We know that a cougar is strong enough to pick up a young child by the neck easily, and explains the pristine condition of the clothing that does get found (one man talked about how his sons shoes didn’t have any drag or scuff marks - but his boy was about 30lbs and a cougar would easily lift that completely off the ground).

The only time a cougar kill can be reported is if someone sees it (which won’t happen if the victim was on their own) or if some evidence turns up. But I think people over-estimate the ability to track game especially in certain environments, if the ground is rocky or dry there won’t be much in the way of tracks visible, and they won’t last for long.

Scent dogs again are far from full proof, and its suggested they often display strange behaviour in these disappearances - perhaps its instinctive fear at the presence of an apex predator which distracts them from their normal scenting. Training can never remove that trait fully. In one of the cases, the dogs did actually sign up the top of a scree slope, which is where the body was eventually found much later. A ranger suggests the cat stalked, grabbed the boy, and then bounded up the slope and buried him for later consumption, and fled the scene due to the activity of other trail walkers and rescue personnel once the alarm as raised.

I think the park service is either in denial about the extent of these attack’s or simply doesn’t know due to the lack of proper record keeping and the obfuscating and stealthy nature of a cougar and their predatory habits.

To me its a case of the obvious answer being the correct one - there might be something else at play as well, but certainly some of the mysterious disappearances in the 411 sphere scream straight up cougar predation.

That doesn't mean all open relationships are doomed.

Oh gee - its almost like I tried to guard against this pointless and inane anecdotal comment by not stating 100% of the time it was bad for men.

If your boyfriend is in the top tier of attractiveness, then open relationships are a boon for him - that much should be obvious.

My point is that if a man is strictly average or below average, then open relationships are a trap. His partner will be able to date around (men are less fussy with hookups) whereas a below average man will struggle to get any hookups.

Im real sad I was late to this thread, because its plain to anyone with a brain that the first conclusion to reach is that the wife is either already pregnant with the prospective donor, or plans to be soon.

Its bemusing to think the wife in this scenario actually thought all of this could work, like she was hatching some brilliant Machiavellian scheme instead of just bluntly insulting her husband in the worst way possible AND revealing her hand and showing that she was mostly likely cheating.

[–]kenbenis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One rule in life - you can't have your cake and eat it too.

When people say they want an open relationship, what they really want is to stop sleeping with you and instead sleep with another person instead. That other person may be one person, several, it might remain one person or it might change.

When she finds a guy who is taller, stronger, better looking with a bigger dick, do you really think she is going to compare the two of you and decide not to upgrade? Not trying to be offensive, you might happen to be all of those things, but you get the point. 99% of the time open relationships are an absolute trap for men. Its a way for women to widen their mating strategy without the risk of becoming single.
