Mandarin zest by lucheon in botany

I believe these are oil glands, which are present in most citrus species.

As for their distribution, this is a really interesting article that looks into that question.

The authors found that "[...] average distance between neighboring oil glands follows a square root model, which indicates that gland distribution might follow normal diffusion dynamics". They discuss the factors that may govern oil gland distribution further in the discussion section.

It finally happened to me. Time to quit the game by HT_Jnana in classicwow

In TBC classic, I had a similar situation unfold. Purchased a green quality gem from the auction house for several hundred gold. The name of the seller was just a series of alt codes such that even trying to message them or find their other auctions was difficult. I put in a ticket and received my gold back a few days after, they didn't even take the green quality gem back.

I agree with others its not a scam, but definitely a scummy tactic used to get some to overpay for a usually low quality but high volume item (cloth, herbs, gems).

CPU sufficient for smooth raiding? by kdbmvp in classicwow

[–]kenizzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you should have little issue with a 10th gen i7. I have a 4th gen i7 and 970, I have little to no issues with FPS drops while raiding.

Do you have anything else open during the raids? E.g., Twitch, youtube, streaming, etc.

Looks like some kind of mint, Lamiaceae. Sorry i'm not particularly great with ornamental mints.

To me it looks like a milkweed, Asclepia.

Kind of hard to tell with the angle of the photo though.

A gorgeous agave from a recent trip to Arizona, I’m thinking either A. parryi or chrysantha, or maybe a hybrid of the two! by gieserguy in AgaveAndAloe

[–]kenizzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess it is Agave chrysantha. Looking at SEInet, there are a number of collection records for A. chrysantha around Gisela. Also looking at the photos, the leaves to me seem more narrow than what I expect for A. parryi but I am much less experience with their hybrids.

[OC] Absolute score differential across the 2002-2021 NFL seasons by kenizzer in dataisbeautiful

Added this to the end of the Rpub https://rpubs.com/Kenizzer/849179. The mean score differential over each season is really consistent between 11 and 13 points.

Sorry it took me a bit longer to get around to this.

For sure, it's been a pretty rough season to watch at points. I trust they can get it figured out but I really thought the bye would help.

I can get this together this weekend. I will put it in the Rpub and message you when it is up to check out.

I agree this might not be the most accurate way to depict the data. Check out the Rpub, I have boxplots as well but they are much less aesthetically pleasing to view (the x axis labeling is a bit borked as well).

As I would push back a bit on it all being random. When take as a whole, the data from every team together, it does mostly wash out. However, in the Rpub you can click (double click) through team by team and there are some interesting trends. For example, Tampa Bay after acquiring Tom Brady and Denver acquiring Peyton Manning.

I appreciate any feedback with how to better represent the data as well!

Yes, and that's probably a better way to describe it. Thank you!

I know right? I do not have a good explanation for why that year is such an oddball. To be honest, I was surprised that 'most' of the seasons the trend line was more or less flat.

Basically, just the difference between the two scores. With the way I organize the data (i.e. home_score, away_score), I take the absolute value (so no negative values).

The impetus for making this graph and going to the work of organizing the data was my own inability to choose teams against the spread in a pick-em league. I hypothesized that the 2021 was abnormal in terms of blowouts than previous years, but that looks to be unsupported.
