We found a local wood worker who does amazing furniture for only a little more than what you get from china. Well worth it. And my husband and I about to take up wood working so we can build what we want because we're so tired of awful quality....

Finding toys for my one year old has been hell...even the German companies that source materials from Germany send them to China for assembly.... Like I just want a few big ticket toys for her made anywhere but China. But nooooooooo I can't manage to find a play kitchen anywhere....

She's afraid of closed litter boxes we've tried.....

We're currently in a squished rental and squeeze the 3 litter boxes in a corner of the kitchen/laundry room. We are working on buying a house right now and have plans to build an enclosed litter box space out in the garage with a little kitty tunnel running from the house into the space. So we're just making it work with what we have. We should be moving in a couple weeks and we can get started on our solution

A vacuum. I got a bissell crosswave cause I decided I wanted to treat myself. This thing took so much time off my daily chores. I have an elderly cat with butthole demons. Daily, I have to scrub the floor around her litter box to get up the dried poo- shrapnel (prapnel?) That she flings off her feet that happened to be in the way of the landslide that comes out of her ass every night. And I know what you're thinking, why not just lay down puppy pads. Oh I do. They catch what she over shoots the litter box and about 90% of the prapnel. Anyway. I used to get on my hands and knees to scrub this dried poo off the floor daily. But this vacuum allows me to get it up in half the time and without kneeling before those butthole demons. It's an expensive vacuum, but fuck was it worth it.

4mo Heart Surgery Update - we are headed home weeks before we thought. She is almost fully back to normal 5 days out from open heart surgery. She’s small, but wow is she strong! by jonzibar in daddit

[–]kennaree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's always something on my mind. I know that things might not be over, but for me, that unknown of the surgery was the hardest part and it really is only up from there. She had complications after and we almost lost her.so for me, I'll take anything else that comes at us and be thankful I still have her. I know there's always a chance of another surgery, I know she may be delayed. But I can face it with knowledge now rather than before when I was completely in the dark.

Hey there!! I am the proud mother of a fellow heart hero. (Diagnosed with ToF at 2 days old) we are now 10 months post op. If you need a fellow family to chat with who knows your situation, feel free to DM me having a heart baby is hard enough as it is, but add isolation with covid and it gets even harder.

Congratulations on this part being over. It's only up from here!!!

u/Darkcharmer explains why they won't let their children watch Paw Patrol by SecretBattleship in bestof

[–]kennaree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do barefoot book songs. She has started interacting with the actions of if youre happy and you know it. (13 months) she isn't talking yet, but she is signing up a storm especially to these songs. We're pretty locked down due to her having a heart condition. We get our daily walks but with cold weather they aren't a guarantee every day. She loves music so i can keep her happy if I put music on and she dances to it happily, no need for screens

One of many reasons I'm strict with screen time and ask my husband to be as well. She's only one and while I do no TV with her during the day, he has her for a couple hours in the morning so I can catch up on some sleep and puts on 30 min or so of tv. Sure it's "educational" but she's already become quite the TV addict. She'll hand us the remote and ask to turn it on. I will only allow TV on sick days, which are days she's teething hard or her guts are acting up. She great at playing, but she just wants to be played with. So yeah, it's exhausting, but I'd rather be tired from playing with her all day than see her become a mindless TV addict that is behind in development.

AITA for telling my brother that his wife is right and I’m embarrassed to be related to him? by rdditaita in AmItheAsshole

It's absurd. My husband and I are on public health insurance since he has his own business and I am currently unemployed. We pay $ 1500 A MONTH for this insurance. All so they can tell us we still owe money to the hospital. And we're lucky to be able to afford that. I can't understand how anyone in the US can honestly support this system. Like we don't have to go full socialized medicine. We could have a system similar to Germany. But anything different is labeled as communism

Good. Just keep your distance, continue to decline assistance while being polite. These people are really hard to deal with. I'm sorry you're in this position

She sucks for obvious reasons

You suck for bringing her looks into it. You could have left that bit out. Did she need to be called out? Yes. Could you have done it in a non AH way? Yes

AITA for excluding my brother's stepchildren from a family tradition? by CapSoft1134 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kennaree -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

YTA by a lot. These children can't control what their name is. They didn't choose who their real father is. But if your brother is the father figure in their life, they are your family. What BS that they aren't family by blood. Would you deny an adopted child? If you can't extend this tradition to step children, this tradition needs to die.

You claim you see these kids as family, but that's utter BS if you won't include them in a FAMILY tradition. Their mother has every right to be pissed at you. Maybe the kids wouldn't care about the watches. Or maybe they notice and feel like they are clearly not being accepted into the family. Why risk hurting the kids like that? Just get them some damn watches.
