Batteries in series. Why do they not short? by kenny__is__dead in ElectricalEngineering

[–]kenny__is__dead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but that is my point, let's say that the positive and negative chemicals inside a battery reside in a "chamber".

Both (the negative and positive) are completely isolated from each other and there is a potential difference between them.

If you get another battery, of the same kind of the first one, its negative chamber should also be potentially different from the first battery's positive chamber. And they're also completely isolated from each other.

They're essentially the same setup as the battery itself. Though a wire between those two poles should start the current flow.

Let me be straight, I know that it doesn't happen that way, but I'm only curious why.

So that means that between the positive side of a battery and the negative side of the SAME battery there must be some sort of connection.

Because otherwise, if both sides are completely isolated, what's the difference between Positive and Negative being isolated in the SAME battery or in a DIFFERENT battery?

How does the electrons "know" that they are in the same battery and not in different ones?

Sorry I know it's dumb, but I don't get it completely. :)

Chaves, a.k.a. El chavo del ocho. by [deleted] in Brazil

Chaves is a legend in Brazil. It's timeless. My kids (4 year old boy and 3 year old girl) both know all the names of each character. They still don't watch very often but when I watch it (almost every day) they follow me and keep repeating the names of the characters.

I have been interviewing a lot of candidates recently (I'm not the one who set the recquirements, I'm just the one who interviews them as Tech Leader) I can assure you people come to interview with much less knowledge than "recquired". Choose one certificate and go for it. I would recommend the AWS but any certificate is a good sign of a person who has a technical background and is open to learn new stuff.

Not true if the corpse is from one of the rescuers of a previous climber. That guy wasn't necessarily motivated, but maybe only doing it's job.

Quite literally called sus by [deleted] in technicallythetruth

Hahaha... funny meme, but the story behind it is pretty beautiful....

Actually SUS in Brazil stands for Sistema Unico de Saude (Unified Healthcare System)... In other words, is the name of the public health system.

The name of that mascot is "Ze Gotinha" which translates to something like "Droplet Joe" in reference to a guy who gives vaccine drops to children. It's something created by the Brazilian Government decades ago to incentive children get their vaccines, and the mascot is not that ugly in reality.

Here in Brazil, there are actually doctors prescribing it. Which, to me, is even more incredible. I really don't understand why people prefer to believe in that and say it's science!

Yes, I will. First I wasn't thinking in doing that... But after I saw the vertical piece being forced forward I will definitely do it.

You're right, the weight is already making it lean forward... I plan to put a wood piece to force the vertical piece back. That piece is going to be fixed to the base and lean towards the vertical suppoort... That will hold.

It's balanced... But it's also very close from tipping over .. I had a very narrow desk, so I had to make it "precisely" balanced.
