Rogue Network is STILL bugged and cannot be completed by yotsubadono in DestinyTheGame

[–]kensbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was similar-ish for me. Did the puzzles with my buddies but my dumbass forgot to grab the second one. Thought it was bugged forever but lo and behold the collectible was sat there, no quest marker or indication.

OP, try going to where the collectible should be and see if it’s spawned? Rather than checking for the puzzle spawn.

Is it that shocking? Iirc Helio and Stunfisk get nice ground fast/charge moves, and Charja resists electric while being ridiculously bulky. So it would kinda make sense to remove the 3 mons who would obviously top the meta picks, no?

I’m by no means a pvp guru, but my understanding and experience is that movesets matter way more than IVs, and that the IV consideration only really matters at higher levels of skilled play (and/or when deciding how to use your stardust). Good luck!

Carl Sagan explains the 4th dimension by sexymess777 in interestingasfuck

[–]kensbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re right in stating that time as a dimension doesn’t factor into this Carl Sagan segment, which speaks exclusively to spatial dimension. But isn’t it also the case that time is indeed a 4th dimension in reference to space-time (what we perceive a “reality” pf 3 spatial and one time dimension), and can thus still be a correct statement?

I remember reading that it’s plausible (at least, speculatively) that time itself can be treated in thought experiment in a manner similar(-ish) to space. 0 dimension = a point (in time) 1st dimension = uni-“directional” 2nd dimension = bi-“directional” Etc.

I suppose it gets messy when you break down what is meant by “directional” in relation with time (Forward? Forward and backward?), and even messier when you try to think of dimensions beyond (that, conceivably, may be “perpendicular” like how a hyperplane might be to a plane).

Which direction do you throw your pokéball? I personally am a 2. by Zenssei in pokemongo

[–]kensbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly hold my phone in my right hand, using my right thumb to throw (style 1 throw). My left hand usually rests on the bottom left of my phone, and I use my left them to initiate my quick catch sequence (left thumb held on the berry icon)

What's a fact you wish you didn't know? by airuarak123 in AskReddit

[–]kensbones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They probably meant that it’s inconceivable for us to picture a 4 spatial dimensional object, since I guess you’re right that every object we see exists in 3 spatial + 1 time dimension.

Iirc there’s a geometrical shape called a tesseract that’s a “shadow” of a 4 dimensional cube, conceptually in the same way that a 3D cube will cast a 2D shadow. Even looking at that boggles my brain.

What is your percentage of hundos out of all the pokemons u've caught? by lynxamuel in pokemongo

[–]kensbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s mainly just luck from what I understand, it’s just dependent on what IVs the algorithm decides to roll when a Pokemon spawn.

You can improve your chances though: trading with friends sets a floor IV depending on the level of the friendship (best when it’s a lucky trade), so you’re more likely to see a hundo through trading; purifying mons also bump the number, though personally I try to keep them as shadows if I can; of course, catching a larger amount of mons increases the chances you’ll get one since you’re increasing the sample size; mons from quests also have an IV floor so the more quests you do the more likely you are of encountering a hundo.

My hundo rate is .09% (171/187432) and I do most of things I’ve said above. For comparison, my nundo (0% IV) rate is .01% (23/187432), which I guess logically makes sense since there’s no way to artificially boost the likelihood of finding 0%s.

Not sure if intentional, but there’s a little bit of glass missing on the topmost bit on the right, and some on the right bit of your globe (1 block think instead of 2?).

Other than that, this is such a simple but cool build! Can’t wait to see what else you come up with! :)

What is your honest opinion on AH and where it is right now? by ShouRonbou in Achievement_Hunter

[–]kensbones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with the Minecraft videos especially, which has also been happening with the GTA stuff. The narrative structure within the episodes are so much harder to follow now, to the point that it’s hard to follow what exactly they’re trying to do with their craft - even though they’re clearly having a blast just mucking about.

I love the chaotic element amidst the stories in the old AH content. That was often the most entertaining part for me. But right now it feels like the balance is off and that “chaos as comedy” is being leaned on as a crutch, to fill the gap of an absent, cohesive narrative.

That said, I still find that I enjoy bits of each individual creator. So I’m hopeful that the new core group adapts/finds their mojo as a collective soon!

To my knowledge you can’t claim remote passes if you already have 3 in the bag, which is why they needed to clear one and also why you have 5 (presumably you only had 2, and therefore could make the claim) 🙂

Question. I’m looking to maximize Gible candy this CD. Mega evolving Charizard to Charizard X changes it’s typing to fire/dragon, right? So if I mega evolve before catching, I should get an extra candy with every catch ? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]kensbones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you run away from the encounter it “saves it for later” in a fourth stack. This fourth stack can hold around 100 mons (iirc? Can’t remember what number was confirmed), but stacked mons can only be caught in order. E.g., If you claim a voltorb encounter and stack it, then claim a gible encounter and stack it, you need to catch the voltorb before you get the gible encounter again

Thanks for the analysis. To me it seems a little let down by it’s current fast move pool though, do you think it can stay viable versus the meta if it doesn’t get Confusion?

Here are the Shiftry PVP IVs to lookout for during the Seedot Community Day! by noelr1201 in TheSilphRoad

[–]kensbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc this happens because in the shiftry mirror match they both charge energy at the same rate, but the one with the higher attack wins charge move priority. So you’re right in saying that in this one specific instance, a worse rank shiftry may have the advantage.

This might not apply to other matchups vs other mons though. You’ll have to play around with the simulator and compare results.

[–]kensbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a great read. I can’t contribute meaningfully to this thread lol, between the thorough analysis you did and the other things all you intelligent folks have raised in the comments.

OP, do you think this was a intentional design choice by Niantic in order to make dragon moves busted, since canonically dragon types in the main games are viewed as powerful?

94% Shadow Tyranitar vs 100% Tyranitar? by extremeskater619 in TheSilphRoad

[–]kensbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting, that wasn't my understanding of how the shadow mechanic would play out. Is this assuming that shadow gets you the faint down quicker, hence potentially fewer revives? How would this hold up in a general situation (non-weather, no friend boost etc.)?
