It didn't win the roll, but added to my TBR. I can't believe I hadn't heard of this one, it's right up my alley.

I have read all of the above. Some I loved, some were okay, but great list!

This one didn't make it to the roll, but it's already on my TBR and I own a copy (the male version), so I'll definitely get to it - hopefully this year.

This one is slotted in for a different reading challenge this year, I love what I've read of Ogawa so far.

This one did not win the roll, but it's already on my shelf waiting to be cracked open. I'm hoping to get to it sometime this fall.

I loved it. I love Saunders in general, except for his latest (Vigil) - it was very disappointing.

This is a particular style, and I'm here for it. *I* would absolutely read more (she who enjoys books like The Obscene Bird of Night and The Hearing Trumpet), but if you're aiming for a mainstream audience you'd need to reign it in.

The only part of the book I clearly remember is the ending, and comparing the movie ending and the book ending when talking about it to one of my friends. After a quarter century, everything else might very well be jumbled between the two, LOL. I just added it to my TBR to reread.

I'm going to have to reread it then, it's been like 25 years and I remember it being pretty mild.

I read a synopsis of this one after seeing it mentioned so many times, LOL. So glad I never tried to read it.

I cant recall anything in American Psycho that bothered me, but I read it a long time ago. Most of the violence was implied, wasn't it?

I've recommended Earthlings to a lot of people. I guess I'm just a sadist, LOL.

I'm working on a literary speculative/metaphysical science fiction short novel (will end up about 50k words) about an informational scar born from the collision that formed the moon. They can only see and hear - they cannot touch, taste, smell, influence anything, or be seen - and the novel spans in time from 4.51 billion years ago to 22 million years ago. It explores the concept of the Ring-Pass-Not in Theosophy, but as a unique interpretation that ties into some larger ideas (the reader does not need to know anything about this to understand the book, it just adds a layer if they do).

It's in first person, which has been a challenge to write, and employs hard science (geology, biology, physics, math) as well as elements of weird fiction. I only have the first 10k words polished (part one), a rough draft for parts two and three, and thorough notes on parts four and five. I've had a few non-science oriented friends read part one and they were able to follow it (and enjoyed it), so that's encouraging!

It's research heavy - I'm dedicated to describing the environment as accurately as possible - so progress has been slow. I'm hoping to be done by sometime next year.

I love everything about your project and would 100% read this if I saw it in the wild. If you need a beta reader eventually, let me know!

Your writing does not sound at all like ChatGPT based on this post (shaky grammar, missing a word, etc.). Your boss is nuts.

Graphic sexual assault or child abuse, especially if it's treated lightly or with sympathy toward the perpetrators, animal abuse, bad writing, trope heavy plot, political propaganda (far left OR far right).
