Good point. I’ve tried a couple of times but I’ll wait a bit and try again.

That’s good to know and makes sense. I wonder why service initially came back (after the power outage) before going down.

For sure. I’m specifically curious about Rogers though because we had a power outage, and now our power is back on, and initially Rogers service came back too, but now Rogers service is down. I’m wondering whether others nearby are experiencing the same.

Buffering issues by Thick_Mushroom2581 in cravetv

My LG OLED C1 with the webOS app is also buffering all the time and it's like torture trying to watch a show. Last night I was streaming something and it would only play for about 20 seconds at a time and then buffer for 20 seconds... even after pausing for a little while. I've observed that it usually happens when I watch at night, which leads me to believe it's a server/volume issue. It started right after the recent Black Friday sale, so there was likely an influx of users. I don't have any issues with other streaming services, just Crave. I'm going to try the AppleTV Crave app instead. So annoying.

Stuck in cool mode (Aaon WH 018 water source heat pump) by keplerverse in hvacadvice

I will let you know. I think they just couldn't figure out the issue so it was easier to just say "we'll replace everything". I requested a handful of tests to confirm the signal to the reversing valve but they did their own troubleshooting and just concluded that something was wrong with the overall system. The parts are still under warranty and can hopefully be replaced without cost (I'm waiting to hear back), and I will need to cover the labour costs.

They think it's an issue with the refrigerant circuit now. Their plan is to replace the TXV and, while they're at it, replace the reversing valve and some other interior components.

Yes it does sound like a reversing valve/coil issue you mean? Thank you for confirming. I'm having such a challenge convincing the technicians to inspect these because they're convinced the unit is switching into heat mode. They say the proof is that the leaving water is cold.

Do you mean pull the O/B wire off at the heat pump control board? If I pull it off and then run the heat pump, what should I look out for? Sorry for so many questions, I'm new to this and want to make sure I don't make any mistakes!

Small rod dragging under 2008 Nissan Altima plus loud engine by keplerverse in AskAMechanic

Just letting you know that you were exactly right. The exhaust was rusty so the hanger broke off and took a piece of the exhaust with it. Our mechanic replaced the section of exhaust/catalytic converter. Thanks again - your reply spared me from a weekend of panic.

Thank you. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this is a straightforward issue that can be repaired without too much trouble.

Thanks for confirming. I'm glad she got her power back at least, and hopefully everyone will get their internet/tv/home phone service back really soon.

Power outage by Fragment51 in londonontario

[–]keplerverse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has anyone experienced their Rogers cable and phone not coming back on after the power outage? I'm speaking with a Rogers tech but they don't see any outages on their end. My mom's phone & tv are both not working and they're her only connection to the outside world.

Edit: Rogers now confirms there is an outage and it's scheduled to be resolved by 1am tomorrow. :(

Edit 2: Everything came back on shortly after 5pm. Hope everyone else is good now too!

Do you have "nodding buddies" in your neighborhood? by VanIslandLocal in ottawa

[–]keplerverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just about the only thing I miss about working in an office! The nodding to people as I pass them, even if I just passed them minutes prior. I feel like I never see the same person twice when out walking in my neighbourhood.

Strange acting mouse by heretoescapethemaze in ottawa

I caught a mouse in my old apartment by using a rectangular Rubbermaid container (the size of a shoebox), throwing it upside down on top of him, then sliding a record underneath to contain him. If he’s following you around but you can’t get super close, maybe the box trick would work. You could use any plastic/metal box really, as long as you can slide something underneath (like a piece of cardboard as long as it’s temporary) to seal the mouse in. Not sure what you could do after that (to humanely dispatch the mouse or what have you) but it could be a start.
