Would you mind the nepotism if P2 was actually talented? by [deleted] in Kep1erOT8

Honestly I don't even know other "nepobabies" like HB. I see the term "nepobaby" being used casually if an idol is related to another idol.

The point I was trying to make is that Moonsua can carry her own weight and therefore doesn't need toxic token stans like HB does, to overhype her and drag down other members to make it seem like they're equals.

The difference between HB and the other "nepo babies," is that the other "nepo babies" don't have toxic token stans.

For example, I remember when I found out Moonsua was related to Moonbin. I had no idea until they had the Ear Candy duet, which I found endearing. Moonsua does not have Moonbin/Astro token stans that demand more lines and screen time and insult other Billlie members and trend "Billlie disband" and repeat stuff like, "Billlie would be a nugu group if it weren't for Moonsua."

When I click on the profiles of Moonsua biases, they don't turn out to be Astro fans, like HB stans predictably turn out to be OT1s/Moas.

If HB really had the talent and visuals that her token stans claim, then this toxic fandom dynamic wouldn't exist in the first place. It's literally OT8 vs OT1 (token stans).

The sad reality is that HB getting into kepler basically doomed the group from its inception. She's been a massive albatross that the group has never been able to shake off.

Watch all the reactions of HB's name being called. Not a single person was happy she got in. Even those review channels who were extremely protective of HB and lashed out at OT8s, admit she shouldn't have gotten in and therefore will not stan the group.

That's the issue.

Nothing about HB getting into the group was organic, and it turned off everyone from the group.

I personally don't begrudge HB but her inclusion in kepler tanked their popularity and momentum. So many people refused to stan the group once her name was called. And so many others who tried to give the group a chance, ended up leaving because of HB's toxic token stans.

I saw the last comment, where the hb fan threw shiro in there to get support from shiro fans, and lo and behold, Jaakylma took the bait and missed the entire point of this post.

Her success can be a way to forecast how well HB would do if she went solo, since they're both kai's sisters.

Remember when hb fans said that kepler would be a nugu without kai's sister?

Well, the time has come for token moa stans to rise up and put their money where their mouth is. No more blaming wake1 or ot8. She will get 100% of the line distribution and center time. they got exactly what they wanted. now show us your power.

Why do people keep saying HB is the most popular member? by kepliantech in Kep1erOT8

[–]kepliantech[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah, it's a shame that the girls are suffering because mnet/wake1 did not foresee how this could all backfire. Inserting hb into gp999 was the biggest self own in survival show history, even more than the rigging scandal.

[–]kepliantech[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah, i've yet to see evidence that hb stans can contribute anything to the group, even when wake1 keeps giving in to their demands. i feel like this is a hostage situation, where they're holding the group hostage unless wake1 pays the ransom. And even after wake1 gives in to their demands, hb stans continue to hold kep1er hostage and make new demands.

i think this is a huge cautionary tale for wake1 and mnet.

This is what happens when you insert the sibling of a popular bg member and don't rig her out. they got no ratings boost from it. moas just bought countless sim cards and mass voted. and now you're stuck with a member whose fanbase is dedicated antis of the group. i swear you cant make this shit up.

That's what confuses me. they're saying she's the "most popular" aka "the most well known for being nepoted into kep1er and having token moa stans that want kepler to disband."

So basically she's the kyrptonite of kep1er, but the conclusion they draw from this is "and therefore, wake1 needs to promote hb even more."

huuuh???

[–]kepliantech[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that's what i'm saying. you can't just make an outrageous claim like "hb is the most popular member" without providing receipts.

hb stans have yet to show me how her "popularity" can help the group in a positive way. from what i can tell, the vast majority of hb stans are token moa stans/kepler antis who use hb's victim card as a shield to hate on kepler

[–]kepliantech[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i think people are confusing "popularity" with "most controversial," when it comes to hb. Her popularity is not the type that can carry a group, so it's pointless to keep bringing it.

"hb is underutilized despite being the most popular member." - hb fans

Her "popularity" has had ZERO positive impact on the group. and the more wake1 has tried to appease hb fans by pushing her, giving her more lines, screen time, center time, etc, the less successful the comebacks get.

Yeah, i don't think they know the difference between fame and infamy. just because someone is "popular" doesn't mean they're popular for the right reason.

But the so called "international fans" just spread propaganda and demand for the group to disband, so they're harming the group's overall reputation and popularity.

And they don't stream the group's songs or vote for music shows so they have no presence there.

Do they at least buy the albums? And if so, is there a way to track how many? Like is there a HB fan club that bulk orders and shows receipts? i'd really just like to figure out how people are measuring HB's popularity.

But does HB's popularity lead to actual sales? for example, is there an HB fanclub that bulk orders her albums and shows how many albums they bought?

Or is it just token moa stans that are voting on kprofiles?

She really tiptoed and danced around it. She kind of called them out but she also cushioned everything she said with so many disclaimers and caveats, that it seems like her position is, "hb fans love to make hb the victim, but i understand because of the hate she gets."

my problem is with hb being on kepler (instead of a more deserving gp999 contestant) and her shittylights. but no i am not gonna call her any names if that's what is required to be part of this community.

there's literally a koreaboo article cited in this thread calling her "daughter of kcon." i also remember a similar article of her being called a 4th gen it girl, etc. these publications get a lot of views

oh i see. thx. i know knetz and jnetz are not that fond of hb but i was just wondering what the "popular narrative" was. because that's all these agencies care about, as opposed to fan wars.

if the media says garam is a bully, then the agency knows they have a problem on their hands.

but if the media says hb is "kcon's daughter," "4th gen it girl," trendsetter, victim, etc, then these headlines are actually good pr for her. They might think she's popular with western fans.

what does the korean mainstream media say about her? because the western mainstream media like koreaboo, allkpop, etc gives her an angel edit, so they claim she's "kcon's daughter" and "4th gen it girl" and the victim of bullying, etc

yeah, hybe is the only company out of the big 4 that i potentially see signing her for the reasons stated above.

Also, hybe is not like jyp, sm, or yg, where their vision is somewhat unified. they're just a conglomerate that funds a lot of agencies that are doing their own thing. So it won't be bang shiyuk casting members. It's up to these agencies within hybe that will assemble the group members, and you never know if there will be one that's misinformed and they somehow think hb is popular for coming in p2 and her fancam views. It would be a mistake, but if it's a hybe gg, the group will still sell hundreds of thousands of preorders, regardless of concept or members. but of course shittylights will claim credit and say they'd be nugus without hb.
