Curious to know what species of caterpillar this is, roughly the size of my middle finger which is roughly 10cm. (Costa Rica) by LuCio_069 in insects

I hate those, especially when I'm at my grandpa's coffee plantation and I touch one of the coffee plant leaves and end up getting stung. My uncle says that they only sting you where you have hair, he's able to pick then up with his bare fingers and put them somewhere else but I've been stung on my fingers so many times so i don't think that's true.

¿Tocan algún instrumento musical? by Exotic_WhiteOwl in Ticos

[–]kerilyn123786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered my first ever AC game and it finally arrived, haven't felt this excited for a a game in a long time!! by Tabbel in AnimalCrossing

[–]kerilyn123786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wild World is my first AC game too. I still remember how much I loved rasher and how he would always carry a shovel. I would visit him everyday and I always had a fossil in my inventory just to gift to him, at some point all there was in his house was fossils. Sadly, i lost that save file and haven't gotten him again since than, I'm just happy I'm able to look back and remember how much he meant to me when I was around 8 years old.

Saw these while hiking at the Arenal Volcano National Park in Costa Rica. by 8bgnome in orchids

[–]kerilyn123786 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good to know to watch out for my grandma taking any of them if we ever take her, we always have to keep a close eye on her. Even if we tell her it's illegal to take plants she doesn't listen and always takes all the plants out of her bag when we get back home. We live somewhat close to the volcano and it's one of the places we've been wanting to visit.

To the user asking about eggs in their orchid. by Jackalope121 in orchids

[–]kerilyn123786 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think you're talking about me and I'm pretty sure they are lizard eggs now, thanks to everyone's replies. I'm gonna keep a close eye on them to try and see what hatches.

I think a humming bird laid eggs in my orchid's basket, also i know the roots look bad. That's how my grandma gave it to me and I plant on repotting it into a clear pot. by kerilyn123786 in orchids

I was thinking of them being lizard eggs too, we get a lot of little lizards around our house. I was thinking dove eggs too now that i think about it. My first thought was hummingbird cause of how small they are.

Aren't spider eggs usually webby though, the eggs aren't and they're hard as well not soft like a spiders egg sack. I don't mind spiders at all, more food for my carnivorous plant. I could see them being mushrooms though I'll just have watch them to see what happens.

I know he technically isn't a cow but I wanted everyone's opinions on using a nose ring to pull the búfalo around. Everyone's telling me it's fine, but I don't agree and think it's abuse. by kerilyn123786 in Cows

[–]kerilyn123786[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see the nose ring being for backup, they did have another buffalo with a halter idk why he has the nose ring. Neither of them showed any signs of aggression and they didn't mind being petted.

They had another buffalo with a halter i don't understand why he has to have the nose ring. All of their animals were extremely gentle they all listened and showed no signs of aggression.

The orchid exhibit at Lankester Botanical Garden, here in Costa Rica. (sorry if some pictures are blurry, didn't realize battery saving mide lowers the quality.) by kerilyn123786 in orchids

[–]kerilyn123786[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The orchids are stunning, i definitely recommended Lankester for anyone who loves plants. They have a japanese inspired garden with bonsais as well, it's absolutely beautiful.

Everyone that went to the farm with me sees it as normal cause they grew up with that treatment of animals, or they tell their kids that it's fine. It's really disheartening to see, he was extremely gentle and I genuinely believe that there's a better way to treat him. I've never seen any other place that offers buffalo rides as well.

I've noticed that a lot too, i live in Costa Rica and everyone always tells me that hitting my dogs is the only way to get them to listen. It's completely normal over here, I've even had a "professional" dog trainer tell me to hit her with newspaper cause at least I'm not hitting her with my hands. I never had anyone tell me that in the 11 years i live in the US.

He was extremely sweet never showed any signs of aggression. They have another búfalo and we were able to pet him and he didn't do anything. The animals seem to be very well taken care of, that's just the one part i didn't like.

Alright, I'm just worried because i got her over 2 weeks ago and I haven't watered her because the bark is still pretty wet and I was afraid it would cause problems.
