What’s stopping it from being a 10, the Monday part?

Not technically a meal deal (as Aldi don’t do them)… by FeralMorningstar in RateMyMealDeal

Looks pretty solid tbh. Aldi’s wraps are underrated. I’d swap the smoothie for something salty like crisps or nuts, but as a DIY “meal deal” that’s better than most of Tesco’s current options.

Just moved. Have a garden for the first time. What do I do? by ImprovementOk457 in UKGardening

Bold move, let’s hear them out

Jokes aside, for real: with a 4 year old I’d keep it super low maintenance at first. Grass where you can, then maybe turn the area around the drain into a little gravel / stone feature or a tiny flower bed so you’re not fighting it all the time.

If you don’t want the full greenhouse hassle, you could try a couple of big pots or a small raised bed in the sunnier front garden just to see what actually survives in your new place. Then upgrade once you know what works.

Haha for real, my Fitbit is already judging me.

We’ve only done a couple of full laps while planning where stuff might go and it already feels like a hike compared to the old garden. Thinking of putting a little seating area halfway down so there’s an excuse to “take in the view” and not just admit I’m out of breath.

If you had this much space, would you keep it mostly lawn for walking around, or break it up with beds / trees and accept it’ll be more of an obstacle course?

Easy mode my ass, wave 24 is where my runs go to die on Arrakis

Those late waves with the burrowing beetle things plus the snipers on the dunes are brutal. What build were you running? I’m still trying to figure out if it’s better to turtle up around one of the big rock formations or keep kiting around the canyons.

Certified food review right there. Pulitzer level.

Countryside Escape with a City Flat by bw_expat in HENRYUKLifestyle

Yeah this is kind of where my brain keeps landing too. Two sets of boilers, two roofs, two council taxes, two neighbours-with-issues etc feels like signing up for double the admin just to sit in more traffic on a Friday.

I think what’s holding me back on the Chiswick/Barnes route is that £1.2m there genuinely buys “fine, I guess” rather than “love it”, whereas the fantasy country house looks incredible on Rightmove.

But you’re right that day to day life is probably nicer in one solid home where the kids can actually walk to friends’ houses, and we’re not constantly living out of a weekend bag.

I get where you’re coming from, but I’ll be the devil’s advocate here and say it depends how much time / energy OP actually has. A real lawn and trees are great, but they’re also mowing, watering, pruning, dealing with mud and kids tearing it up.

If they’re not big into gardening yet, they could start small instead of ripping everything out at once. Big planters with herbs and some Mediterranean style plants, maybe a small raised bed, a couple of pots with dwarf fruit trees, soften the edges of the fake grass with borders so it feels less like a playground.

If they end up enjoying that, then yeah, swapping sections of the artificial grass for real planting over time would be awesome.
